Once this game is released you wont be seeing much of me around these forums. Not only because I'll be busy map editing and then building my city....but because I fully expect these forums will be overrun with people ranting and raving about all the problems it may have on launch day.

I posted on the GTAnet.com forums going over my thoughts on what most forums look like in the first few days/weeks after a game is released. So I'll quote myself here (no doubt a lot of this applies to the CXXL forums right now :) ):

And this is how these forums will look on day one of release too, it'll gradually fill up with posts about being deliberately lied to by CO/Paradox, cheated, wanting refunds....its just so typical I will be amazed if it doesn't end up like this.

I know, right? People are such whiners!

I discovered this game through a forum post. I explored it through youtube, and fell in love with it. Then I came to this forum hoping to find all the newest and greatest news about it, and instead, I found people going ballistic over really small to petty things. And I'm like: "Seriously?!? Here is a city builder game that is already light years ahead of its competition, it ticks all the boxes of being the first *real* competitor for the title "successor of SC4", and all people do is complain?* Can't they just enjoy the game for what it is? I must say, after 3 years of being out of the gaming market, all that negativity did rub me the wrong way, but I'm over it now. Now I understand that my original idea of what to find on these forums was a bit idealistic and romantic. So once the game is out, I'll be too busy enjoying the game to spend much time here.

*If people were like: "I'm so excited about the game, it's going to be great. But, it would be really great if they could change x." (To be fair, this was most people on the forum) However, then there was the "The developers are such useless lazy *** for not fixing this minor annoyance of mine. They treat us like sh*t. My life is over because of them!" . That, to me, was just immature and childish beyond believe. On some post I saw someone equating CO to EA for not wanting to budge on te Chirper thing. Seriously, some people have no sense of perspective and reality in the way they express their criticism. That annoys me.

I wonder what Attila: Total War has to do with this. I love when people excuse their pre-orders pointing out they didn't pre-order some other controversial game. :)

Rome 2 sucked. He thinks it's "smart" to preorder games where he trusts the company presumably. But then, there would have been no reason not to pre-order Rome 2 because Shogun 2 was good and although empire had a horribad time, it was a misstep in an otherwise great series. And Rome II sucked. I might have mentioned that. Then CA went and made Alien Isolation which is apparently a great game.

The main problem for this game will be that people expect it to be developed by a 50 man dev team making a 60 euro AAA game.

The key to this game will be modders and a dev team with a clear vision and understanding of what core mechanics are important to focus on.

Like making day-night cycle and quays for the waterfronts instead of making NIssa Leaf Tesla Charging stations and selling it for 5 euros.

They also expect the game to be SimCity or a Real Life City Planner..... People just need to be educated that this is not SimCity nor is it Real Life City Planner Simulator.

I can only speak for myself but when I preorder a game and I get disappointed (a lot the last few years unfortunately),

Unfortunately, I think the "2000's" are going to be known for games that disappoint due to early access, preorder fiascos and poor over all quality. We'll look back on the 2000's like we did the years of "frogger" and other "stuff".
