If you pre-order a game which suddenly decides to come out, then please dont rant in forums at the very first day. From the start, this game has been campaigning with hate of SimCity. SimCity tried something by simulating everything but current PC's cant handle this. They failed but then suddenly Paradox hyping this game to the skylines by saying every populist things. Last dev diary screenshoots (that huge city) has only 65K people living in. It may not cover every aspect of your desired city building game. Nice hint, but i think you are wasting your time here. There will be preorders and there will be ranting after release. It is pretty much an automatism and I am looking forward to it.

I haven't preordered yet. I'm waiting until the embargo has lifted and I can watch YouTubers play it, and see if it's worth preordering or not. If not (which I think is very unlikely) I will probably get the game anyway.

I'm still deciding on if I should get the deluxe edition or not...

I've decided that this is a much more trustworthy group of developers, and so pre-ordered the deluxe version. I do not mind being wrong for that price. Double that, like SC5 was, and it is a different story. I guess a better way of saying it is, "I believe in them as I used to believe in Maxis before SC."

Too late- I've already preordered the deluxe version.
But I think KR153 nailed it. The expectations are so high for this game that several people will gripe, whine, moan, etc. no matter what. They'll gripe that it doesn't have ____, or gripe because it has _______. It's like Lincoln said: "You can please some of the people all of the time..." etc., etc.

Sorry, I had to giggle at the 'waiting for youtubers to play it' comment. If I want to watch some idiot who doesn't know what he's doing or knows the first thing about the game, I'll play it myself.
Hopefully there's a tutorial(?)

Lincoln never said any such thing. He said: You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

I'm not saying that I'll watch everything. I just want an opinion from someone outside of CO or Paradox, to give clarification that it's worth it. To be honest, now that I think of it, I should just preorder it now, but... I agree with you about the high expectations though. There's always these people that want more. We need to remember that it's only 13 people developing the game. I'm prepared for the worst even though it's highly highly unlikely.

I can only speak for myself but when I preorder a game and I get disappointed (a lot the last few years unfortunately), because I know that I was the idiot who bought a game without real proof of quality.
It's our money anyway. So what we do with it lies in our hands.
Simcity had a bad start all along when I think about it. High hopes, great prize and an unbeatable game as their predecessor.

Simcity tried nothing current pc's can't handle. Because it runs one current pcs. They failed because of weird simulation (neverending traffic jams) and tiny cities.

The youtube embargo is up, you'll have 1 month to watch reviews of youtubers (and the gameplay) to decide if the game is worth or not. 1 month is more than enough (at least is more than 2-3 days).

And yeah i pre-order on Steam already but since you can cancel any pre-order and get your money back (as Steam wallet money) i dont have any concern. Anyway from what i saw in Sip's video the game look like pretty solid, and it was only a 35 min gameplay.

Ps.: Your topic was pretty useless, i think everyone here knows what pre-order can do.

Simcity did this game a huge favour. It just cannot be as bad. The only way is up. Simcity lowered peoples standards and expectations and hope. This games more a second chance, no lose.

Normally I share your opinion on preorders, but the chances of me buying this game are practically 100% anyway, and Pdox has earned my trust. So a preorder it will be.

I'm in the same boat. I rarely pre-order games, but then again I am rarely this excited for a new game. I will be pre-ordering.

I think the last game I preordered was Civilization III, a a series I really loved. Just rarely a game comes along I am prepared to commit to early. Civilization is one and this game also falls into that camp. Its an emotional decision at the end of the day, pure and simple.

I can tell this for me . I preordered the minute i saw the preorder thingy.

Reason - deep down i know myself , that i am gonna buy it anyways , no matter how bad it is ,, beacuse i have hyped myself too much by coming to this forum everyday in last 4-5 months .

I agree with this. Plus at £22 it was a no brainer.

Plus with the modding community set to have a large say in the future development of the game, I trust that even if the release is a bit bumpy then I can shelve it for a few months and then come back to it once the modders have got stuck into it.

The problem with most pre orders is that you are asked to blindly pay upfront for a game with little information on which to base an opinion. This is why I don't normally pre order games.

Cities XXXL had no game play, dev diaries etc as well as a bad reputation yet people still pre orderd and then complained afterwards. Those peeps were warned. However, CSL has been covered in good detail giving us gamers enough information to be able to form an opinion so I pre ordered the Deluxe edition and decided to take a punt. In my view it is an acceptable risk also given the great price.

By the way guys, do we have comfirmation this game is not "Sim Town" like the last SimCity game? That was the main reason I didn't like that one, the rest was all fine. If its SimTown here all over again, no matter the quality am not buying.

Can you guys point me where its confirmed its not SimTown (aka I can make huge city size cities) and therefore make me pre-order this babe?
