I've noticed that some, but not all, people on this forum have a bad attitude about things in general. They have no optimism whatsoever and try to find the worst in people and the subjects that appear on the forum. So for all the positive people on this forum, and the negative people who want to get over it, read this. It makes me feel alot better when all those negative people out there are getting to me.

This is something to think about when negative people are doing their best to rain on your parade. So remember this story the next time someone who knows nothing, and cares less, tries to make your life miserable.

A woman was at her hair dresser's getting her hair styled for a trip to Rome with her husband. She mentioned the trip to the hairdresser, who responded: Rome ? Why would anyone want to go there? It's crowded and dirty. You're crazy to go to Rome. So, how are you getting there?'

'We're taking Continental,' was the reply. 'We got a great rate!'

'Continental?' exclaimed the hairdresser. 'That's a terrible airline. Their planes are old, their flight attendants are ugly, and they're always late. So, where are you staying in Rome ?'

'We'll be at this exclusive little place over on Rome 's Tiber River called Teste.'

'Don't go any further. I know that place. Everybody thinks it's gonna be something special and exclusive, but it's really a dump, the worst hotel in the city! The rooms are small, the service is surly, and they're overpriced.

So, whatcha' doing when you get there?'

'We're going to go to see the Vatican and we hope to see the Pope.'

'That's rich,' laughed the hairdresser. 'You and a million other people trying to see him. He'll look the size of an ant.

Boy, good luck on this lousy trip of yours. You're going to need it.'

A month later, the woman again came in for a hairdo. The hairdresser asked her about her trip to Rome .

'It was wonderful,' explained the woman, 'not only were we on time in one of Continental's brand new planes, but it was overbooked, and they bumped us up to first class. The food and wine were wonderful, and I had a handsome 28-year-old steward who waited on me hand and foot.

And the hotel was great! They'd just finished a $ 5 million remodeling job, and now it's a jewel, the finest hotel in the city They, too, were overbooked, so they apologized and gave us their owner's suite at no extra charge!'

'Well,' muttered the hairdresser, 'that's all well and good, but I know you didn't get to see the Pope.'

'Actually, we were quite lucky, because as we toured the Vatican, a Swiss Guard tapped me on the shoulder, and explained that the Pope likes to meet some of the visitors, and if I'd be so kind as to step into his private room and wait, the Pope would personally greet me.

Sure enough, five minutes later, the Pope walked through the door and shook my hand! I knelt down and he spoke a few words to me.'

'Oh, really! What'd he say ?'

He said: 'Where'd you get the shitty Hairdo? '

I'd be amazed if anybody on this forum is trying to get to you, a complete stranger who they are never likely to meet. Nor does this forum exist to get to you but, rather, to discuss EUR. You obviously love it but as it is the only game that you've played (or so you've told us on another thread) you don't actually have any basis for comparison: maybe if you tried another game you'd realize that there are better games than EUR and that by sticking all rosy tinted to the latter you are simply as happy as a pig wallowing in shit! Your 'optimism' is not doing Paradox or this forum any favours because a non-Paaradox gamer who bought EUR on the basis of your unqualified recommendation is likely to be upset at being stuck with a pig in a poke, may not buy another Paradox game ever again and could well exercise his rights to moan and warn his buddies about it on the internet outside of this forum. You need to get it into your head that almost everybody here is a fan to a greater or lesser extent of Paradox games and that includes me. Even though I might seem overly critical of the recent releases (see http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showpost.php?p=9602922&postcount=48) I'm a big fan of EU2, Victoria and HOI2 and am hoping that Paradox takes note of the discontent to improve its products.

Lord above please stop, we're not being negative, we're being truthful, take it from people who have played other Paradox games, and other games in general. EU:R just isn't cutting as far as Paradox is concerned. Take it from me, I liked EU3 Vanilla, and played it much more than Rome, and some people won't touch EU3 Vanilla with a barge pole. Believe me I want Rome to be a fun game, we're not just bashing it for the sake of being negative. We're used to voicing criticisms and having them fixed by Paradox in the patches.

Further, a joke about going to see the Pope and a disappointing game are two different things.

By your analogy, I, by buying the CE version, booked first class on purpose, and intended to take a lovely trip around Rome, and really get to dig around the old ruins. Only to find that First class is pretty much the same as economy, that I can only take guided tours around the Roman ruins and look at things in a museum. The only bright spot is that if I pay a bit extra, the plane back will actually have a first class that's different to economy class.

LOL. Did I say anything about EURVV? I meant in general. erthul, may I refer you to this thread? - http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/...d.php?t=403426. I wasn't talking about EURVV. I was talking about your attitude. An attitude that you expressed very clearly above. You trip me out girl.
At least you're able to laugh at yourself which is a promising sign of recovery (but be careful not to skip your meds on a regular basis). Don't worry, be happy.

CTCM is a bit of a wind-up merchant, methinks. He claims that this is the only game he plays (yeah right, what a crock) and even managed to get a thread closed when he accused others of forum stalking him!. If he loves the game so much why does he lurk about on this forum day and night contributing nothing but anti-sweetness and light rather than actually playing it. So, come on CTCM, let's see a few screenshots and really long, extremely time consuming AAR's from you as positive proof that you actually play your 'bestest game in the whole wide world'. Or, rather than drooling here as a false prophet of EUR's glory, glory hallelujah go and do something useful such as running the EUR Wiki.

I do find a post about people being negative, that is followed by nasty negative comments an interesting social view.

And I'm on the side of the peeps who feel this game has issues. So, do not follow up with how your not being negative, your just pissed about paying for an incomplete game or some such. It's one thing to be critical of a product you paid for, and another to be critical of others, especially in an impersonal manner like forums.

It is rather ironic. But then the fact is that the OP was very harsh on all the "negative people", not for anything they said specifically, but for their "bad attitude". No constructive suggestion is offered, instead he just makes fun of them. In fact, this whole thread would be considered trolling in some less tolerant forums since its stated purpose is to polemicise different view points.

Well it worked.

To CTCMSouthern:
Our different opinions aside, truly this thread is entirely unecessary. Everyone else here take the negative comments quite gracefully and generally have no problem in accepting different views. If you need to cheer yourself up, I suggest you look for options outside of internet forums.

I hear ya, but I do not feel he has been nasty at all. He is just trying to prove a point. But as far as I have seen, he has never been nasty with the with people he disagrees with. I do not feel the same about the game as he does (and I'm a long time p-dox fanboi as you can see from my profile/avatar) but I do disagree with the comments towards him. I do not think he is trying to cheer himself up, his post was to make a point. He has somewhat sparked a dead forum for paradox's newest game. So maybe he has accomplished that also.

And where is paradox on this forum? And why is CK the next slated patch! THAT is what we should be PO'ed about.

EDIT: Even though I'm a North Eastern boy, I have too have a southern boy's back

Maybe because the Deus Vult expansion pack came out 6 months before EU:Rome and needs a patch just as much as Rome does, maybe more as there seem to be more people that actually play CK:DV than Rome.

He has somewhat sparked a dead forum for paradox's newest game. So maybe he has accomplished that also.
This thread has had hardly any hits as most people have had the sense to ignore it (unlike we few who've been daft enough to read/post here). CTCM's attack on unhappy paying customers is not helping revive this forum at all! How is it a 'positive' thing to keep declaring that something which is almost universally acknowledged to be bad is, in fact, good, and therefore, it is actually the critics who are bad. That sort of 'logic' prevailed in Nazi Germany and Stalinist Russia but I would hope not to see that kind of twisted 'positivity' (= negativity) here.
