Thanks for 1.24 'Japan' & 1.29 'Manchu' patch.. But we know that still there are many things to improve Japan in EU4.
I know that this is Europa Universalis, so it is more important to take care about European countries first.
But still I know those hard works, to improve Japan in EU4, by you dev team.
Once gain, I'll expect your efforts to make Japan more better, by suggesting my ideas.
TL;DR
--- Shogunate & Daimyo system so weird, must be fixed! ---
『No more infinite daimyo swarm - Need limitations to be a daimyo vassal』
In current version, Shogunate mechanic is expected to show the chaotic situation in Sengoku period, warring states not under control of the Shogunate..
But in reality, it just works for 'infinite daimyo swarm', which is OP, and less-motivate to form Japan.
What the... what a world-wide global shogunate it is...
Again, this is NOT what the shogunate mechanic supposed to be.
And it un-motivates to form Japan!
Especially, anyone can become daimyos, even if they are...
I want this to be fixed.
To do this, first, the Shogunate must be allowed to also own normal vassals.
And, there should be some limitations to let a country be a daimyo.
A country can become a daimyo, when...
Any shogun's vassal not meeting none of these cannot become a daimyo.
And any ex-daimyo not meeting none of these, will be forcibly become a normal vassal state with Feudal Nobility reform.

TL;DR
- No more infinite Daimyo swarm. Need some limitations to be a Daimyo
- To be a Daimyo, a country must be either one of them...
- Capital is geographically within Japan
- Primary Culture is Japanese group
- Religion is Shinto, while being close to Japanese islands
- Both decisions to unify Japan, must be fixed
- Require more provinces to TRUELY unify Japan
- Let it just unify Japan, when some daimyos left outside Japan
- Let Japan tag also have daimyo vassals (but with some penalties)
- A Shogunate must be Empire rank, when it is an End-tag country
--- Shogunate & Daimyo system so weird, must be fixed! ---
Index
- No more infinite daimyo swarm! - Need limitations to be a daimyo vassal
- Improving 'Unite Japan' decision
- Are you sure you have gained the 'solid foothold' to unite Japan?
- Japan can still hold daimyos, can gain permanent claims
- Improving 'Japan is United' decision
- I already completely united the islands, but WHY?!
- No daimyos! ..But are you sure you've really united Japan?
- Miscellaneous
- A shogunate country can become Empire, when it is either Japan itself, or the End-game tag.
- Typos, in daimyos' NI

- neither geographically within Japan,
- nor culturally Japanese,

And, there should be some limitations to let a country be a daimyo.
A country can become a daimyo, when...
- The country's capital is within Japan region (regardless of culture & religion. See Crimson provinces in the map below)
Or...
- If the country's capital is a coastal province, within either one of these regions.. (see Orange provinces in the map)
- Far East super region (except Japan)
- Manchuria region
- The country must be either one of them
- Primary culture is in Japanese group
- State religion is Shinto
