Flickering borders

Just a quick question

my first post as a CKII owner (YES!!!).

Now to the hard part, I have epilepsy and unfortunately one of the things that is distracting me when I play is the borders of all the counties flickering everytime the game plays. when it is on pause it does not flicker but the moment I unpause it flickers out of control.

I have the following mods;
- All Portrait packs;
- All unit packs;
- All Coat of Arms packs;
- Ruler Designer;
- The Republic;
- The Old Gods.

I also have the following user mods;
- Age Customiser
- In Novo lure
- Portrait Realignment Pack.

Any help would greatly be appreciated as it is a constant annoyance and in a sense it kind of prevents me from playing CKII for too long out of fear of having a epileptic seizure.

The first part are DLCs. Mods is only fan-made stuff.
Whatever, it can be many reasons. Depends on your OS ( Win or Mac for instance), graphic card, drivers (have you updated your graphics driver), current patch you got etc.

Should be posted in the Tech Support subforum.
A quick search there gives this list of threads (edit: link deleted, too old)

I suppose he's asking for the settings.txt in the C:/user/username/mydocuments/Paradox Interactive/Cruser Kings 2 folder. Either upload it or link to one or just copy and paste the text here between

edit: As i don't know two of those mods, does it flicker without any mods and basic vanilla game as well ?

edit2: Did you try to manually set another resolution in settings.txt ? I have no updated drivers as well and some resolutions cause the game to either crash or get stuck at the loading screen for instance.

edit3: Did you already try a driver update ? The Intel HD4000 wil probably work better with a new driver.......just a suggestion. AndrewT is the official guy here and loves to take all the blame instead of me though.

Just visited the Toshiba support page, but as i dont know your serial number and if a general driver by Intel will suffice, better visit it yourself http://www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/computers/satellite/p850

edit4: Ouch. right you got the Nvidia 630M, right. Probably CK2 runs on the HD4000 instead. I don't know Laptops confuse me sorry.

Yes you have one of those dual video setups, and the game is probably using the Intel. I believe the nVidia Optimus utility allows you to force an app to run on the nVidia instead, so try that. And update your nVidia driver while you're at it.

Wow you extensively looked at my issues Aardvark, with many options to look at, Thank you for your assistance on this. I will do what Andrew told me to do first before checking if I have to get something from Toshiba.

Thanks Andrew for looking into this for me. I will do that when I get home from work tonight. Just curious is the utility already available when I open the Nvidia Control Centre, or would I have to download it?

I have done as asked, I think it is working ok now. Thankyou for your help Andrew, in the process I was able to make my other games (especially paradox games) run better as they too were set to run under the other processor.
