Dear all,

I'm playing Stellaris now for about 150 hours and I came over some questions which come up during my current Ironmen game:

-) Fleets: I designed the "classical" Plasma fleet with some adeptions, sceens can be find attached. Am I doing the right Thing here? I feel that i'm not that dominat as i should be. I'm far ahead in tech and planets (i have 1/3 of the galaxy). There should be no threat but in war it does not feel that superior.

-) Awaked Empire: There ist an AE that ist friendly to me (+25) and has about 1/4 of the galaxy. The game had the extradimensional invadors crisis, who were repelled but the crisis never stoped. (i think it's a bug). The AE are Guardians i guess. Nevertheless I want to attack them sooner or later. Do i have a chance? Do i have to Switch the ship design to kinetic only?

-) Tech: All techs are reserched. I'm reserching the repeatables untill I can beat the AE. Since i'm Individualist i learned that i Need a Psi scientist to reseach the Psi techs (which are missing). I often tryed but I never was aber to recruit a Psi scientists. Is the a trick?

Big Thanks for your time and answers!

You need Tachyon Lance on your battleships. Or giga cannon if you don't have Tachyon lance.
On the rest you can go for combinations of plasma and kinetic battery, or just plasma if they can't have large weapons.
Plasma weapons will focus on ships with shields. Once the shields are gone the Tachyon Lance will finish them off.
Kinetic of course is good versus both shield and armor.

I put plasma on my corvettes. Destroyers get a kinetic battery and flak (but I don't use destroyers that often in endgame).
Cruisers get 1 kinetic battery and 4 plasma.
Battleships get Tachyon Lance (or Giga if I don't have Tachyon Lance) and the rest is a combo of kinetic battery and plasma.

Against awakened empires you could use phase disruptors. Though I use my regular ship builds. Usually I'm more than strong enough to take them on when I do and instantly wipe them out.
Even better is identifying the ship build of FA en AE you want to take on and retrofitting your ships to counter their build.

For psi research, you need luck with anomalies and observing primitive species.
I just played a game as fanatic materialist and was observing some species. I got an event to abduct a very bright individual in that species, or to leave them alone for a life that couldn't give them the intellectual challenge they needed. So I abducted him and made him one of my researchers. He had a spark of genius and managed to get psi research. I think it's because he himself as a leader wasn't materialist.
So perhaps try to get non-materialists in your leader pool.

I would attack them whenever their fleet per is inferior to yours. Then destroy at least one fleet, and make white peace. Then you can reverse engineer psi jump drive (or regular jump drive, it depends on the ethics of the FE) and that awesome shield tech they have, and maybe tachyon lances.

Also, on a side note, NEVER USE CRUISERS. The reason for this is that they use aggressive computers, while battleships and destroyers use defensive ones. So they have the same use as Corvettes, which is to protect the bigger, more expensive ships, but they are expensive, so it defeats the purpose. This is the reason why all your Corvettes and cruisers will die first in a battle, and your battleships and destroyers will seem to last forever.

Thanks for the answers so far....some remarks:

-) i have a scientist from an enclave but in Physics... i'll try a change here...

-) i got jump drive ans some technology from a fallen empire that i crushed years ago ;-)

So next thing to do is a slight redesing, go to max with fleet cap and attack the AE....;-)

The only trait that affects weighting towards Psionic Theory is Psi Expertise. Also, oddly enough, if I read the files correctly curators only give extra weighting towards Psi Jump Drives if they're assigned to physics research.
