An event chain suggestion, making use of the mostly useless Lanfang tag and adding some colourful trivia to the game (a Chinese, Confucian Republic in Borneo)
Chinese Immigrants
Requirements: after 1750 province is in Borneo, province culture is not in the Chinese group, owner culture is not in the Chinese group or province is unowned, 50% more likely in Western Borneo, additional 50% more likely for province 640, 50% more likely for provinces with gold, iron or copper, may also target empty neighbouring province
Fires only once
With the expansion of tin and gold mines in Borneo, the demand for additional workforce has increased significantly. This need is being met by labourers imported from the Chinese mainland. Those workers tend to organise themselves into companies called kongsi, centered around a community of people of the same surname. While those workers allow efficient exploitation of mineral resources, the different ethnicity of those immigrants and their strict adherence to their traditions may prove integration to be difficult.
Option 1:
Their hard work benefits us
Province gains „Kongsi” permament modifier until the end of the game (so it does not disappear on ownership change)
Flavour text: Kongsi are commercial and social organizations of Chinese workers living outside mainland China. They maintain strict working ethos and keep mostly to themselves.”
+1 goods produced, +20% local production efficiency, +0.05% monthly autonomy
if province good is not gold/iron or copper changes province good to one of those (random)
Option 2:
We must stop this immigration
Pay 100 ADM points, the event chain ends
Establishment of Lanfang Republic
Requirements: after 1750, province has „Kongsi” modifier, may also target unowned empty neighbouring province
The Chinese workers in Borneo have begun to arganize their companies, or kongsi, into larger communities. Those kongsi federations have already begun to operate more and more akin to independent states and it seems that, if left unchecked, those organizations may indeed evolve into separate nations. Organized as republics, they have begun to operate based on their own laws and principles, althoug citizenship is only given to Chinese workers, with local indigenous population treatet only as subjects of the state.
Option 1:
It is best if we let them govern themselves - AI will usually choose this
Cedes province to Lanfang, Lanfang becomes Hakka, Confucian, Oligarchic Republic, gain +50 relations with Lanfang, Lanfang gets army and navy built to forcelimit and 500 gold
Option 2:
They may keep their autonomy, but independence is out of the question
lose 50 DIP, province gets 100% autonomy
Option 3:
Things have come too far, we must stop them
lose 100 MIL points, province gets 50% autonomy and 10 unrest
