Hello Paradox and community,
I would like to make a suggestion to add more details and love to the Mutapa region. You see, in the current version of the game, 4 tags are missing in that region, which could get added. The Zimbabwe kingdom, which was most likely and very well existent during the 1444 start date, and gets absorbed by the rising Mutapa kingdom in 1450. Same with the independent tributary states Manyika, Madanda and Kiteve tribes. So in Eu4 they would be fully independent tags, or like mentioned, tributaries of Mutapa, with Butua staying a vassal of Mutapa.
Those changes were so far made in the Extended Timeline mod, as Johan mentioned that no more provinces will be added to Eu4, but I hope that he and the development team would reconsider it.
The Zimbabwe kingdom would hold to its capital province Zimbabwe, while I would also suggest adding a new province south of it, the old city of Mapungubwe, the origin of the predecessor state of Zimbabwe. It also could be valid to give Zimbabwe cores over the Mutapa land, as it is what they lost within that period.
I have attached two images to this post. The first is the suggestion for the new provinces, and its possible shapes (of cause only rough guidelines),
here to explain, I have made the Manyika province (that is by the way misspelt in the current Eu4 version) bordering the Kiteve and Madanda province, for gameplay purposes. It is suggested that Mandanda had a coastline, so a simple re-shape of the province could be done here. Kiteve technically had a coast, but with the province system in Eu4, it will just create a border gore with Sofala. Speaking of it, Mutapa had a coastline in between the Quelimane and Sofala provinces, but that again would only create border gore and split the Sofala tag in two, so it can be ignored.
The second image is about the holdings of the mentioned tags.
That being said, I also look forward that the dev team might do a possible Mutapa and maybe even a Zimbabwe mission tree. With Zimbabwe wanting to restore its glory, and Mutapa to bring Zimbabwe to fall, and annexing the Kiteve, Mandanda and Manyika tribe.^^
With this, I also include some links to back up my suggestion.

Edit: A supplement from me. To fill the empty-looking spot, and round things up, it is possible to add the Kalanga people as another tag between the province of Mapungubwe, and Butua. The spot that is currently part of the wasteland province Kalahari.
