Considering I thought he did not want other modders using his material I do not know if its appropriate or if anyone would want to without being able to use it for their own mod.If Hooni doesn't show up soon, does anyone want to work on updating this ourselves?
I really really don't want this mod to die, given how integral it's become to my (and many others') CK2 experience.

Though he has been off steam for months now, I'd assume if anyone wanted to it'd be fair game.
Didn't know he said that...He did do his exams though, and has previously been away during some periods. Updating the mod without his permission would break the rules of the forums as far as I know, especially as he said that nobody could use his material.
Personally I just believe after a member is gone for more than x ammount of time its perfectly fair game to update it, though using it for their own stuff is debatable at best.He did do his exams though, and has previously been away during some periods. If they allow it, yes or were open with it while they modded. Without that, it goes against the rules as far as I know.Personally I just believe after a member is gone for more than x ammount of time its perfectly fair game to update it, though using it for their own stuff is debatable at best.
There is an issue however loup, it would be perfectly viable for most people to recode most of what he has done into a new mod, because first and foremost, no one can actually have propriety rights outside of the game publisher. In a most technical sense, as we are working within a limited scripting environment, copyright and ownership are more of a courtesy than any thing else. Paradox are the rights owners, and they alone determine how things are used. Now it is a forum policy of paradox to not use other peoples materials without consent, however, there is likely a common sense component to that. You do not use without consent while the individual is active, when they are no longer active, it would become a grey issue and likely to be ignored so long as no one raises a stink about it.
I agree. Most forums have a deadline determined, after which the modder could at any time return to rescind the use of his material. That seems perfectly logical; I cannot understand if in PdoX' forum the timeframe is limitless.

These are the actual rules:Bingo, you cant really have proprietary mods
4) The User Mod may not claim ANY kind of license or copyright of any kind (You can still have Credits).
5) The User Mod should respect the work of other modders and not include any work without the consent of that modder.
These are the actual rules:
You can recode everything though, but I think we all understand where the limit goes on that.
I understand that, but in the end it is not my task to decide, it falls under @Castellon who is in charge of these rules.Loup the problem is, in a scripting language like we use here, it is next to impossible to prevent you from using the same coding lines as someone else, is that the same code? Technically it is, but that is because unlike a programming language we really do not have the freedom to define our own funcs. So I think that anyone who wants to take over this mod would not be in a bad place so long as they talk about how they were inspired and based their work on the the idea and concept of Hooni and they seriously undertook to extend and differentiate what they have from what Hooni wrote.
I'd give him until the end of summer. If he comes back, all is well, and if he doesn't, so long as you add him to your credits list, you can probably use it no problem.
Well... damn, that's a long time to wait--given this is my favorite mod. Wouldn't it be great if Paradox added many of his combat, trait and education additions to the base game (and that greedy chars cannot give out gifts...)? But fair @omega20056. End or middle of August?
Still. In the meantime--what is the change in Horse Lords that is causing this mod to crash? It's not the only mod to have crashed without being updated. That will make it easier for us (or Hooni) to fix, should we move forward on updating it ourselves. Furthermore, it's not like we're adding new (or removing) content or features; rather, we're simply debugging it.
Has anyone tried PMing him? Maybe he gets an email alert for new conversations. Over on Sufficient Velocity (which also uses XenForo) and AlternateHistory (which uses VBulletin) I have it set to get emails whenever anyone hits me up. I hope Hooni is alright--it would be good to hear he is still alive at least.![]()
Its everything, espicially the common folder in particular.
By any chance are you the same Shah as on my friendlist on steam? If so send me a message on steam or a pm here?
