I havent played a Muslim Dynasty but it seems strange that there was no Muslim Dynasty Shields' equivalent. I had a quick google of some of the Medieval Islamic COA, and they do have a stye all of their own. Calligraphy abounds on them. I do seem to remember at least one mod that improves the random Muslim COA though, it might be worth looking for and trying out.

Surely this is an area ripe for a dedicated DLC?

P.S Here is a nice article I found while looking into this, all about Ayyubid and Mamluk Islamic Heraldry in the Middle Ages. http://www.appletonstudios.com/MamlukHeraldry2001.pdf

Thank you for the article.

I think just using Arabic text on all the flags would be confusing since people wouldn't be able to tell them apart. But I wouldn't be against actual Islamic heraldry being used rather than stars and crescents (not widely used before the Ottomans).

I am certain that random flags will be chosen when those countries are formed. I've formed Andalusia many times, and I always get one.

BTW, what country are you in?

am playing as house midrasid bey of Aleppo
its so hard as am stuck between the Seljuk and the Fatimid

the funny thing is that the Fatimid now have half of Italy and parts of Greece + Istanbul while seljuk contorl most of anatolia + the persian empire and arabia and expanding into the russian lands

yet no war has broken out between them and the fatimid

am playing under the seljuk so far waiting for a chance be indebendet and then rage war to control all of syria

its so much fun right now :)

Crazy Fatimid and Seljuk conquest of the Byzantine Empire isn't an uncommon thing. But most of the time they declare war on each other because of the religious sect difference. So, my advice: Get ready for a war, and try to grow within the Seljuk's. Independence may not be the best choice if you are stuck between Seljuk's and Fatimid's.

If I'm not mistaken, the symbol on the Persian CoA is the Faravahar, a symbol of Zoroastrianism and, perhaps by extension, the Achaemenid Empire. I don't know how appropriate it is for an Islamic Persian Empire, though.

Nobody want arabic symbol for persian empire or any non-arab state. But persians have many flags and symbols that dont involve any religious emblem. One exemple is default k_persia flag with ezhdehā. In my opinion any pagan or zoroastrian persian empire must use Faravahar and muslim persian empire must use safavid lion

what u say is kinda true but even the lion in the Persian flag that was used from the Safavid all the way to Pahlavi era was somehow a Zoroastrian symbol.
