It happens again and again: I trade away minerals per month for other resources I'm running a monthly deficit on.

The amount I trade away is less than my monthly income, but often I spend all my minerals on stock to build my empire, then the trade deal is trying to subtract more than I have stored BEFORE my absolutely adequate monthly mineral income is booked (!) - effect: trade deals get auto broken (- with diplomatic penalty and all: sometimes leading to a cascade of unraveling deals, often turning me unable to invite another empire to my federation for 50 years...).

Fucking annoying. Fix this ASAP. PLEASE. PRETTY PLEASE.

Change the order so that income is booked before trade deal expenses!

My empire has been friends with another empire for decades, and I immediately incur a -100 opinion hit, because I don't deliver some minerals, which one second later I would have delivered perfectly well... - it annoys the hell out of me.

Can't you just use the market until it's fixed? The market is easier to use, it often offers more attractive prices and you can dynamically regulate how much you buy and sell.

The good thing about the market is, that you get a popup-warning if you don't have enough of resources you plan to sell or not enough energy credits to buy what you ordered - the breaking of trade deals on the other hand is only announced after it happened.

The other good thing is, that you are not stuck for 10 years. But as for the prices being more attractive, I have to say, that it depends: on the fee you have to pay, and how much you are buying: you can drive up prices quite a bit, even over time, whereas with a friendly empires (depending on your standing with them, and their ethics etc.), you can sometimes get better deals, and even lock them in for long times.

I would agree that this is a fix-worthy bug, but as you and others pointed out yourself, the issue can be tackled by the player himself. Thus I assume the urgency is not immediately recognizable.

shamelessly bumping my own thread again - please fix it.

On reexamining, I just went out of the thing I was trading this time - would have happened no matter if the income was booked first, since I not only was running out of stock, but also out of income... - but I'm pretty sure the original problem has not been fixed as well.

I simply never remember how much stuff I'm trading away: I know I can check it by waiting for the tool-tip on the resources, but I simply can't be bothered to double check all my fucking trades every single month. Just book the income before the expense. Please. - Or get rid of the opinion malus on broken trade deals. - And while you are at it: maybe you can introduce a way to break trade deals intentionally? - After all these years, there is no way to just break a trade deal with a click of a button - or renegotiate or whatever. You are always stuck 10-30 years...

Bumping. It seems like a simple fix to the order of operations for the economy monthly update. Instead of processing trade deals first it processes the internal economy. However this may cause the reverse effect where if you rely on a trade deal for income, then your economy implodes before the food tankers roll in.

Hmm.

Maybe it's not such a simple fix.

Hmm.

Maybe it's not such a simple fix.

Energy and Food are usually used as upkeep - there are only larger lumpsums needed when you buy something from an enclave or you buy an admiral from a s star tribe, or pay tribute to a star tribe. Whereas minerals are pretty much always used right up, because the earlier you reinvest them, the more effect you get out of it.

Each and every buidling and every district and every mining facility in space require minerals, often you already have constructors or planets eagerly waiting so to speak... - meanwhile I'm starting to double-check on my minerals left over after I've already spent them, and then decide to undo what I did so I have more left over for trade deals... - the game is forcing additional re-thinking on me: not only: what are you gonna spend your next minerals on, but also: after you spent them, do you have "enough" left for your trade deals: When in doubt, "unspend" the minerals / cancel the thing you were just trying to build ("h" shortkey for halting your constructors last command has become my most used shortkey^^ - that can't be it boys&girls!)

But I guess you are still right, and things are not that simple. The other thing I proposed: getting rid of the -100 malus when "unintentionally" breaking trade deals would have its own problems, as you get positive opinion for trade deals that are in favour of your trade partner, you then would be able to promise 30 year gifts / gift spam for free opinion bonus and then just not deliver...("Oops, sorry: Force Majeure" / "Höhere Gewalt").

Maybe they could check for any malus to be applied for lack of resources not on the same day as the trades are resolved, but a day later, only after all trades are resolved? (Like a hidden ability to go into debt for a day with upkeep costs.)
