So I made some perfectly good alternate routes for my sims to use, but they don't seem to care that much. What do?
You can see how there are those two dark red bridges and then like three green ones. How do i get traffic to spilt more evenly?

I'd like to at least see a screenshot of one more info view, the Building Levels one (green house with a white star). It shows where your different zones are, which determines your traffic flow.

Even better if you could share that savegame file on the workshop. You can do that by going into Content Manager -> Savegames and choose share, then post a link here.

Basically you have way too many intersections. Traffic lights cause build up of queues which increase traffic. Don't make too many intersections on your larger roads. All smaller roads do not need to reach them. This will improve traffic enormously. You can also read the section on traffic on the WIKI which explains a lot.
Oh and don't forget to use one way streets where you don't REALLY need it to go both ways.

You shouldn't need that much industrial zone, unless you're trying to unlock Statue of Industry or something. The amount of imports and exports is more important in terms of how much industrial is really needed, rest of that demand can be zoned as offices.

I would also re-locate that Concord Heights industrial zone to the other side of the river so truck deliveries wouldn't interfere with other traffic.

Are those your only two highway accesses? You could stand to put one near the industry area at the bottom of the picture.

Also its very beneficial to build on both sides of a highway. Done right you can dramatically increase your highway access points so your traffic spreads out more. Here are a couple assets that provide highway access to both sides and allow traffic to pass through efficiently.

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=937207887

The roundabout one handles heavy traffic just fine and is nicely compact. The second one handles extreme traffic better but can be hard to fit in sometimes. Also its neater in game than the picture (multiple tweaking sessions).

In addition to the assets above in between them you can put simple straight bridges over the highway. Some traffic will take those spreading out more. You can also put offramps from the bridge down to the highways to release some pressure. Not up from the highway just down to. Going both ways often draws too much traffic for the simple bridge to handle.

It is very beneficial to separate your industry from other zone types. Industry doesn't mind pollution but every other zone type does. Its costing you land value which reduces tax revenue and makes it harder to level up the buildings. Highways are great buffers for industry from other zones ;).

Also heavy commercial is loud enough to bother residential and offices. I like to use a buffer of light commercial if I am building them near each other. Residential and Offices can be built next to each other. They have similar needs to level up so it works well.

Concord height seems to be wood industry, so it will produce materials for other industry. That means :
- traffic for regular industry
- traffic for import
- traffic fo export
- traffic for workers

Seems that you have already a rail link, if it's for import/export it could be useful to split in two : make an import/export network non-linked to internal (wood->regular) network
You maybe have enough space to bring highway to your concord height industrial zones, underground maybe.
Offer public transport to workers

For your highway exchange, it could be useful to split it in two : don't make exit/entrance come to/from the same point. It will split the flow, set up exit and entrance on different route and direct the flow where it need to go
example.jpg
edit : Oh and set all entrance after the corresponding exit, so incoming traffic don't mess with outgoing traffic of the very near exit node on highway

Agree.
Leave a good amount of uninterrupted road (without an intersection) on your 4-lane and especially on any 6-lane roads you have in your city. You have too many little square sections, in where every road intersects with each other. Just about every 2-lane road in your image, not only intersects with other 2-lane roads, but they also force intersections with your larger 4&6-lane roads you have. Thus, it's OK to have close contact of intersections with 2-lane vs 2-lane roads, but not on your 4&6-lane roads.
