FIX-IT-YOURSELF-THREAD FOR 1.06

Should obvious buggies that are easy to fix arise in 1.06... You'll find them here

Crime Fighter Chinese Chief of Staff

There's a duplicate minister ID 52069 in the Nov 11 pic pack db\ministers\ministers_chi.csv file which has not been fixed in 1.06 or 1.06c since they are still using the same minister file. In two of the Democratic cabinets he is a Crime Fighter Minister of Security as well as being a replacement Chief of Staff. You could change them to free IDs such as 52089 and 52090. This will only affect games started after the fix.

In the 1936 scenario, the tech levels for Americas Group #4 need to have welded armour changed to riveted armour. To accomplish this, open the .inc files for Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela in the folder (scenarios\1936) in Notepad and change the following:

Scroll down to the 'techlevels = {' section and change the 2100 to 2000 and save the files.

Wow, not many people must play those countries since I haven't seen this reported before. Looks like this bug was introduced in 1.06.

I hope that these postings are useful, or even in the right place.

The next one I found was for Saudi Arabia, in the 1936 scenario they need to be given Naval and Naval Doctrine techlevels.

Again, go to the scenarios\1936 folder and open saudi.inc in Notepad. Scroll down to the line that reads 'techlevels = {' and add below that 6000 (Naval) and 13000 (Naval Doctrine) and then save the file.

As long as it's obvious that they are bugs this is the right place. If there's any question you should post a new thread in the bug forum first to get some feedback on it. These two seem pretty clear to me although it is possible that they were done deliberately for some reason.

Soviet AA in Jerevan

There is a misplaced AA unit in all four of the soviet.inc files (1936, 1939, 1941, 1944).

The offending line reads:

province = { id = 1266 antiair = 1 } #Jerevan

and should read:

province = { id = 1260 antiair = 1 } #Jerevan

These are changed by opening each of the four sov.inc (soviet.inc in 1936) files in notepad and correcting as above under '#Anti Aircraft Batteries' near the top of the files.

This misplacement adds an AA unit to the 'VAN' province in Turkey instead of the 'JEREVAN' province in Russia.

This is probably the single-most important thread in the HoI forum!
I'm a bit curious how many actually use it though.

Someone with real knowhow of this game (read jdrou or gzav :)) ought to apply all these changes to a clean "latest patch" install and post a zip with only the changed files in the mod-forum whenever a fix comes along.
That way we (& P'dox when they release a new patch :D) should be able to get the most out of the game.

Siberia Revolt Provinces

There is an error in revolt.txt for SIB (Siberia).

The revolt file lists province '1636' (Jakutsk) twice. One of these should be '1638' (Kolymskoje).

To make the change, open revolt.txt in notepad and scroll down to the entry for 'SIB' (near the end of the file), and change one of the 1636's to 1638.

I have compiled the fixes that are applicable to patch 1.06c and uploaded them to the mod forum here.

Fix for the terrain modifiers problem in 1.06b and 1.06c. Discussed in:

A fix for the terrainmodifierproblem
http://members.lycos.nl/rbfkoop/ModifiersPack.zip
(Note this doesn't seem to work with my Opera browser but it does with Internet Explorer.)

P.S. I believe this problem actually exists in all/most previous patches as well.

EDIT: this is now included in my fixpack.

the name tag EVT_4102_NAME doesnt exist in the text.csv file. Therefore, I suggest it be changed to correspond with the event_desc which is used for this event.

Put this in below

Code:
	name = "EVT_3404_NAME"

In files db/events/103.txt

Code:
#########################################################################
# A Lend-Lease Caravan Arrives from the USA
#########################################################################
event = {
	id = 4102
	random = no
	country = CHI

	# Triggered by USA 3725. NOTE: May be triggered several times.

	name = "EVT_4102_NAME"
	desc = "EVT_3404_DESC"
	style = 0

	action_a = {
		name = "OK" # Excellent!
		command = { type = supplies value = 1000 }
		command = { type = rubberpool value = 500 }
		command = {type = industry which = 1611 value = 10 }#Kunming
		command = {type = industry which = 1613 value = 10 }#Chengdu
		command = {type = industry which = 1614 value = 10 }#Guiyang
		}
}

3405 might be better since it will be accurate if the event fires more than once; 3404 refers to "The First Shipment".

I have some issues. With some I have a solution. With others not.

1) Preventing the "Poland must be protected" event if ENG is at war with GER. Poland will join the Allies automatically if attacked in this case.

I think this can be solved with a trigger condition.

2) Preventing the UK SoI for Albania to trigger on the Italian-Albanian war.

As far as I can see an error. Put "event = 2903" in the excluding parameters in the appropiate SoI event.

3) Better consistency between the naming of ship classes and the name of actual ships. Check out the Armada Espaniola as an example.

Not sure how this is fixed. Either in the .inc scenario files or in unitnames.csv.

4) Better consistency between the naming of armoured units and the historical examples in the tech text. Check out the French as an example.

Again. Either in models.csv or in text.csv.

To the more loose. We have been discussing the Swedish intervention in the Winter War in the General forum and it could seem like the Swedish are counted as an aggressor regarding dissent. I am not completely sure it is a bug/oversight, but it could appear so. In any event Sweden should not get this massive dissent hit and it ought to be fixed.

Also (again a bit more loose) I think Panama and Haiti should be added to the US SoI. I also think that Ireland should be added to the UK and Czekoslovakia to the German.

text bug: Subs may now launch Nukes

Bug in the text.csv file:
Code:
TE_NUCLEAR_CARRIER;Subs may now launch Nukes
should say
Code:
TE_NUCLEAR_CARRIER;Flying Bombs may now carry Nukes
.

Bug in Monroe Doctrine for Bolivia

In db\events\ai\usa_spheres.txt event 1515 has triggers
Code:
trigger = {

          random = 15
          under_attack = BOL
                NOT = {
                      or= {
                         AND = {
                            alliance = { country = USA country = ENG }
                            alliance = { country = USA country = BOL }
                      alliance = { country = BOL country = ENG }
                      alliance = { country = BOL country = SOV }
                      alliance = { country = BOL country = GER }
                           }
                       }
                 }

}
Should be:
Code:
     trigger = {

          random = 15
          under_attack = BOL
          NOT = {
               or= {
                    AND = {
                         alliance = { country = USA country = ENG }
                         alliance = { country = USA country = BOL }
                    }
                    alliance = { country = BOL country = ENG }
                    alliance = { country = BOL country = SOV }
                    alliance = { country = BOL country = GER }
               }
          }
     }
