The AAR:
An AAR will be created for this game. Posting updates there is not mandatory (although it is encouraged ). If you have the time/desire to do so, great go for it. If not, that's okay too. We all have RL to deal with.

Additional Ground Rules:

1. Each player selects their country during their first turn.
2. For the first two turns you can attack anyone but you can't annex or make a vassal of a human controlled country. After that you can annex anyone.
3. Each player has up to 2 days to complete as much of their turn as they can.
4. Save games should be zipped. At the end of a player's turn, that player will email the zipped save game all players. The next players turn then begins.
5. Absolutely no cheating.
6. No reloading (other than CTD forced.)
7. An existing player who loses their country can rejoin the game during the next turn (in their scheduled slot). They must select a country of roughly equal or lesser power to the other human countries in play at that time. At the start of their new turn, and before playing, they will announce in the MP forum what their intended choice is. Any disputes over the selection will be resolved prior to gameplay.
8. Diplomacy outside of the actual game mechanics is legitimate.
9. Expansion by taking excessive loans and having planned bankrupcies is considered cheating. Please see rule 5.
10. Loans to the AI, turbo annexing, and inciting native uprisings to destroy another nation's colonies/TP's you have MA with are also considered as illegal cheats/exploits.

I'm in!
just gotta see which country I want.

hmm, Norway will most likely not be playable unless the human player breaks off the vassalization, and not a human Sweden does it, as the AI chooses "be part of Denmark" almost all the time.

*edit*
I should learn how to read (about that Norwegian thing)

after having done a bit of thinking I now believe that Denmark & Sweeden is too powerful compared to a Poland (without lithuanian inheritance) and Novgorod (without chance of becoming Russia)....

therefor I think that Poland and Novgorod should be allowed to keep their events...and hell why not allow Moscowy in as a selectable country as well....and also adding the North Sea countries mentioned in the intro I imagine that this will probably produce a game with 5 out of these countries:

Denmark
Sweeden
Novgorod/Moscowy *
Poland/Lithuania **
Brandenburg
Scotland

* (I dont imagine people want to play one if the other is choosen! - but perhaps Im wrong!)

** I would like to suggest that if any player chooses to play Lithuania then that player "also" plays Poland ...meaning that no other player be allowed to take control of Poland ...either in the initial pick of countries or in a later subsequent change of country due to having been annexed....any player who then controls lithuania can then automatically switch to Poland after the inheritance event....This will have meant that he has had the ability to guard the east flank of "poland-lithuania"...but on the other hand he will have missed out on making dp-clicks for Poland.

any comments or suggestions? - please! :)

I'm all for your idea Boehm! But I wouldn't count on the selection of nations you mention. Personally I will not try to get the most powerful country but instead rather the country I found most intriuging to play.

And I think while it is good to have all human nations in close proximity I also think that everybody would like some ai nations to prey on. And including the North Sea countries as playable nations will for sure allow that.

I also agree on all the other rules that are listed in your first post and have no wishes for any changes.

Well I was thinking... when I play my sologames I never retreat by choice from combat since the ai never do that as well. What do you think of this?

hmmmm I think this is a good idea in a regular MP game...but in a pbem? ....I dont really care, we can do either...? anyone else? :) ...ofcause the suggestion does have the merit that it will help the ai of our respective countries defend themselves against human agression.....but the downside ofcause is that this is yet another houserule.....what to do??????

Heh as usual you are right, maybe we better not use this as a house rules. Even though I am a mediocre player I like to use many House rules in my solo games to make them even harder or sometimes more historical. :)

So are we ready to start this thing now? We need confirmation from the other players that would like to join this game!
