lol, and I still need a post ;)
I'll take either (if I start playing) umm... Vice Prime Minister?!? 0.o I know that's not right, but... is there a post somewhat like that? :p Just so I can try and cover for Formula if he's busy and vice versa, to try and keep it flowing.
Or, I'll take a Colony, like India, Africa, or the Expeditionary Force in France. Or just try and run all three for a bit 0.o until I get to split em.

Ah well, up to you guy's.

Yes, you can Christensen: Navy, Army, or Airforce, and Sir Deverell, you have interim command, as I will be away longer than expected. I'll email you the .sav file, If you would please, could you get at least the first month played?

What kind of post would I be assigned to? I don't know If you take military control over the Commenwealth forces, if so, could I be a coordinator for one of those countries or something like that? I have a lot of time at the moment, as I don't have any school or job until september, but the next week I'm gonna use with some friends playing HOI :D

The Admiralty;

In that case, the admiralty still has overall control of the navies of the empire, let that be certain.

Gents, I now have the file. I'll be watching the premiere of Battlestar Galactica tonight on TV but I'll have some time on the weekend to play a month or two. Nothing much should happen in that time............ except perhaps the disbandment of the Admiralty :D :D

Using the Dictatorial powers invested in me by the King (Formula) - Pedal2000 and Christensen - we need a chief of armed forces, and a chairman of the Empire advisory committee respectively.

Formula will obviously endorse or revoke your rights when he returns from his tax payer funded trip to the Caymans........ it's a fact finding mission you know! ;)

Cheers,
Duritz.

[Edit: I've discovered that one of our research spots was left uncovered. I'll try to go back over the posts to see what was missed but if anyone has a list of our first five objectives please let me know.

Also, who can host pics? If I take some can I send them to someone to put up? I'm a lazy bugger, I'd rather be playing than figuring out how to host screenies...... and there's still the matter of Battlestar Galactica in just on 2 hours time. :D ]

I could host Pic's if you need me too.
and I assume =P Since I'm not too good at English grammer (Or any languages for that matter) That I am Chief of army then, in which case I'll have to go through and see what Britian starts with.

No, I mean Chief of Armed Forces - in charge of army, navy and air force all in one. Primary roles would include deciding the allocation of resources to each of the three services, selecting long term goals for the British military, defining war zones, and appointing area commanders.

The role is filled by Sir A Montgomery-Massingberd if you want to look at the diplomacy screen in the game.

Duritz.

Just expect intense pressure from the admiralty.

January 1936

Report to King Edward VIII Jan 1936

Sir

I headline this month's report with the most important of news items. The death of your father, King George V, was a great loss to the nation. However, your coronation has seen a small lift in industrial efficiency and supply economy. I'm sure that this will continue as long as your reign lasts.

The only trouble, as usual, came from the Admiralty. They were unhappy with your decision to place the safety of the nation in the hands of the Army. As usual, their fears were unfounded and I am happy to report progress on all fronts.

The month saw the creation of many new trade deals, the most significant being the trading of various goods for military supplies and financing from US banking institutions. This was undertaken to ensure the increases in our military and in technological spending could be continued long term. However, resources were not the only thing traded. We provided blueprints to our allies to help to ensure that we remain ahead in the technological race, also providing our good friends and allies, the French, with some of our less sensitive blueprints. The fruits of this exchange of ideas had almost immediate success as our dear sister nation, Australia, provided us with the blueprints for an specialist naval bomber (basic naval bomber). The Admiralty were keen to follow up their initial examination of these plans.

The technological issue remains paramount at this stage. Priorities for the nation are as follows: Some form of fast infantry formation (Motorised Division), an Improved Aircraft Carrier design, monoplane fighters (Basic Interceptors), better artillery (early artillery) and increased productivity for our industries (Improved Machine Tools).

We have also undertaken an overhaul of troop dispositions throughout our Empire. Additional garrison troops have been transported to Gibraltar and Malta while an Infantry Division was transported from southern England and will now be based in Egypt.

Naval forces have also be reorganised. Although the Home Fleet remains strong, we have centralised all but one carrier in the Mediterranean. All Royal Navy submersibles will also be stationed at Singapore and Hong Kong.

This summarises the actions of the emergency military government during this month. We look forward to the normalisation of government within the near future.

Sir Cyril Deverell,
Chief of Army
Chief Minister in his Majesty's Emergency Government

OT - A little drama to explain the absence of Formula51. At least it fits in with the death of KGV!

Penta, of course Army is quiet. I'm busy running the country! :D

If Pedal2000 gives me an email address I'll send him some screenies of my military reorganisation. SH, if you could express your displeasure at them and suggest changes.

Also, the last tech spot went to army, whinge all you want but it is the only project with a completion date in 1936 and the only one making any real progress. If Formy isn't back before it's end, I'll just find another 1936 project to begin - Agrichemistry perhaps... or rocketry. Ideas???

Duritz.

On behalf of the Royal Air Force, I wish to protest the continued arrogance of our sister services in insisting that defence of the Empire lies solely with the fleet and the army. Among other grievances to be corrected, the responsibility for all aircraft, including those designated for naval missions, should continue to fall under the RAF.

The guarantors of Imperial security cannot neglect the air.

In the last war we saw bombing of London itself conducted by Hun airships, and repelled only by our fighter craft. Now the amount of bombs each zeppelin dropped can be carried by a single-engine aircraft, and on the Continent four-engine bombers are under development. The plan of aerial theorists is to completely knock out an enemy's capacity to support a total war effort with materiel and indeed destroy their very will to fight. We cannot allow our cities to be terrorized by enemy bombers, and on top of this we must develop the ability to retaliate.

It is the RAF that keeps the peace in our Mandates by operating single squadrons to patrol vast areas that would take divisions to pacify. A fighter group on a strafing run does more to put down the uncivilized natives than a barrage of corps artillery.

Tests near our Caribbean possessions have shown that aircraft are capable of sinking battlecruisers, using both bombs and aerial torpedoes against targets from the Boche fleet. Our own firms have developed experimental aeroplane types that succeed in this, which would be able to find and sink enemy squadrons before the fleet even gained notice of their presence.

In short, we cannot neglect the air. Vast distances can be covered in a single, hours-long flight, and destruction can be rained down with impunity against those who would threaten us.

As the senior officer of the Navy in the Medditteranean and thus the officer in command of most Aircraft Carriers I protest to the RAF's attempt to annex the Naval Air Arm into the RAF. Marines, Naval Aviation and vessels should all be controlled by the Navy. We are the one with the most expertise in naval operations. Furthermore the carriers would still be of the Navy, it would create hassle and inefficiency if the vessels were of the Navies yet the planes of the Airforce.

Sir Cyril Deverell
Chief of Army
Chief Minister in his Majesty's Emergency Government

I'd like to assure you Petrarca that no one undervalues the RAF. We are following the plans of the Civilian government and no changes to policy will be made unless the King orders them.

That means that fighter technology remains a priority, it also means that the status quo regarding naval aircraft remains. The Fleet Air Arm remains part of the Admiralty, as does Coastal Command.

We've all seen your tests in the Carribean, and we've all seen the work of Brigadier Mitchell over in America. There is no need to argue the worth of your service, the Army remains convinced of the role you have to play in Empire defense.

Feel free to take up your arguement for further resources with the PM once civilian authority is reconstituted. Lord only knows the Admiralty will.

Sir Hugh Dowding
Air Marshall, Fighter Command

Coastal Command is properly RAF Coastal Command, and it has been since its creation. Furthermore, RAF Naval Air Branch operates the squadrons using the RN carriers because of the superior expertise of RAF men in the usage of aeroplanes. A Swordfish may carry a torpedo, but that does not mean its use follows the same doctrines and tactics as a light cruiser!

OOC: Historically all aircraft were under the command of the RAF. I'm just arguing for the status quo and more money. ;)

This sounds intresting.....
What are you doing, really? are you playing with each other or are you just writing here, or what are you doing?

As soon as I got answers to my questions I would like to join as commander in Chief of North Africa, unless it's already taken.............

One is playing with input from others. It is Formula51's gig but he's stuck in RL so I'm filling in.

Sorry but North Africa is gone, can I suggest Aldershot Command. Historically, this would become head of the BEF in times of deployment to the continent.

At the moment Aldershot consists of one HQ unit and three Inf Divs. They will soon be attached with Engineering brigades. There are also three more Inf Divs being formed, they will also come attached with Eng bdes.

Hope you choose to join in but remember that Formula51 will have to OK it when he gets back....... and watch out for the Navy types, bunch of whingers the lot of them. :D

Cheers,
Duritz.

P.S. No sign of an email address so I'll have to struggle with imageshack and see what I can do about some pics. Later tonight at the earliest (Australian time GMT +10).

Um, I'm Commander Middle East (covering, wot? The African side of Gibraltar westwards to Persia, important points being Egypt, the Palestine Mandate, Transjordan, and iraq?).

North Africa is my job. (Though, who gets Cyprus? Or is that normal Colonial turf?)

Fortunately or unfortunately, however, real life is diverting my attention, not as if there's anything to do anyway.

OOC: I Sent Duritz an E-mail Addy, apologies for the time, I just finally checked back here.

From the Office of:
Sir A. Montgomery-Massingberd

To: Chiefs of the Armed Forces
First off, I hope you are all well.
Now then, down to business. I've been informed of some building tensions between the various Arms of our Forces, and I must admit, I am displeased with the news. Let me make this clear now incase my stance on any tensions has been missing before now. All high Ranking member's of our armed forces are strongly encouraged to work in cooperation with each other. Naturally some tension is unavoidable, however it should not interfere with the smooth working of the British Empire towards its set goals.
Although I shouldn't need to, I will remind you what these goals we are working towards would be, in case you have lost sight of that in the past few weeks.

A. The successful defense of our toehold on the continent, and with this, the defense of our ally France.
B. The Protection of British Assets, both at home and abroad. This includes Africa and Asian Assets.
C. The Strengthening of the Commonwealth as a whole.
D. Maintaining the balance of power in the world.
E. Protection of all British Citizens.
F. The possible expansion of British Assets in various parts of the world.

Of course, these goals are subject to change depending on the circumstances of the time, however you should keep all of them in mind for the moment and work in cooperation with your fellow armed force members to achieve them for the glory of the Empire.

At the moment, it is my opinion that all three armed forces are needed. However, we do need a strong navy to protect our vital trade lanes, and a strong army to protect our colonial assets abroad. Whereas our Airforce is needed for the protection of the Home Islands, and to assist our ground forces where able. Therefore the Chief of the Airforce and the Chief of the Army should take extra care to work in coordination with each other to best compliment the abilities of both arms.

Any complaints should be directed to my office as soon as is convient for you, and will be handled in the order recieved.
Long Live the British Empire.

The admiralty:

With respect, you cannot expect the Royal Navy to defend four oceans (Atlantic, Pacific , Indian and the Med) with its current resources, and unless we recieve major new cruiser and battle ship contruction, our mighty empire will have been stabbed in the back by the lackluster politicians.

A. Our toe hold on the continent is Gibralta, the French army is large and has many modern tanks, we should only delegate a token force to help the French.
B. The Empire needs defending, and the Royal has been the best at that for the past 300 years, but only with major investment can we continue to do so.
C. The admiralty agrees that the commonwelath would benifit from British Command, so all commonwealth forces should be placed under British command.
D. By maintaining the balance of power, do you mean that Britannia rules the waves, land and skies?
E. We should protect India, as thats the jewel in the crown.
F. I believe there is trouble in Iraq, we should send more than a token force, we should pursue teh stability and prop up the rightful government.

These points are in direct relevence to the points made by pedal.

The admiralty:

CC to Sir Hugh Downing.

The Fleet Air Arm (its in the name) is under the ccontrol of the Admiralty,as are operations. Coastal Command was granted to the Admiralty because it was best thought that we would be able to co-ordinate the operations and co-operation. From now (and it has and always will), coastal command will be under the control of the Admiralty. The RAF is already greedy enough with its fighters and radar stations.
