First time out - Alone or with Friends?

Single player, as when you have small kids then there is not really the possibility of allocating X hours at a time for a game. Besides I have never really had much interest in multiplayer. Might even go straight for Ironman game. Either that or sparsely populated universe to casually learn the mechanics.

Single player - I kinda want to explore the game a little bit before heading into MP.
