First time out - Alone or with Friends?

Me and a friend is going to try MP first, makes it way more fun to explore a new game, when you can share the experience with someone else. Now, i just need to convince them we need to do the same for Hearts of Iron!
Probably Single Player only, most of my friends aren't into strategy games, let alone Grand Strategy.
Also, I don't really like multiplayer games, so I'll be playing solo almost exclusively.

I see a lot of people here saying they will only play multiplayer with friends (which is obviously good), but am I the only one that is going to get a real kick out of joining random games and causing havoc with what ever race I am dealt?

Will mostly be single player due to time constraints. 4x Games usually are like that for me.
That said I really enjoy engaging with the community around such games. Reading/ chatting about strategies and also enjoy watching LP's.

Single player for me. I want to be able to play at a slower pace and enjoy every aspect of the game. In my experiance, MP is too fast a pace for that.
Plus I have (3) children (3) and under, so my game time will be sporadic.

I have kids (12 and 5) - I find indoctrinating them early into playing computer games helps a lot!

First time ever I actually managed to get a group of friends hyped about a grand strategy game (5 others!). So we're planning a Stellaris weekend sometime in late May
But first! Single player - like a lot of people here I actually find MP to be a completely different kind of game. MP is fast and you often have to skim over details. But for the first few (/many) playthroughs ; I want to take my time, learn how to play, enjoy reading the events - it will be glorious!

Single player binge on launch day, MP game with an as of now undefined number of players the next day!

Single player, I figure I will have a lot of trial and error in learning this game, mostly error hence I would rather do it in private than commit my blunders in front of everyone.
friends? those are just people you obseve from afar and collect information on them, pictures. Not someone you actually do something with.

I got the note that everyone wants to wait for the first patches... so i have to play alone :-(
I considered it, but I don't want to be 'that' guy ya know? I'll let it go for our first game, and let one of them mess up, then I can point the finger at them if they get mad when robots rebell next game.
Thanks though I'll take that advise when the time comes.
My biggest problems with online MP games are the timezones and schedules.
It's pretty hard to find people whose timezone isn't that horribly different then your own and whose schedule is open at the same time as yours for a long time.

Single player, humans, Sol System, very few alien civlizations. I plan on not sleeping a week or so
Sadly i have no strategy-friends...
I'd really love to play with adult behaving reasonable people. Playing with randoms is not what i have time for trying since i have job and family. Still looking for friends :blorg:

First 100 hours alone in single player. Then straight into multiplayer to show others that Blorg and Humans are only possible beings in the universe.
