First Parliament: Opening Session

As Acting Speaker, it is my honour to hereby open Eutopia's first republican Parliament. The duly elected MPs are:

"Mr. Speaker,

I should like to nominate Mr. Galloglaigh (ooc: shawng1) for the post of Speaker."

Charles S. Morgan rose from his own seat nodding, and spoke out, "I wish to second the nomination of Mr. Galloglaigh."

Mr Galloglaigh, in a conservative yet sharp dark blue suit, rises from his chair.

"I humbly accept the nomination for Speaker."

In order to expedite the process, nominations for Speaker will be closed on Monday, December 23, 23:59 h (= 11:59 pm) GMT. The Honourable Members will have three days afterwards to cast a vote for a nominee - i.e., till Thursday, December 26, 23:59 h (= 11:59 pm) GMT.

Since Honourable Member Galloglaigh is the only nominee for the position of Speaker, he is elected by acclamation. Congratulations to our new Speaker, and best wishes for success in this office!
