My first country will probably be a small but civilized and stable nation that is easy to maintain to get a hang of the game mechanics then on to Russia.
First post for me in Vicky II thread.
I shall do the following:
1. Download the demo.
2. Play the tutorial and cry like a baby. At this point I will realize that I know nothing and I wasted all 33 years of my life.
3. A great DEMO AAR will appear and the game concept will become understandable.
4. Buy the game.
5. Start as Wallachia (it is possible right?).
6. Back to point 2.
7. Hopefully a great gameplay AAR will start and in the end I will become addicted to the game.
This was the way I've learned and loved HOI3...
P.S. I have read all the DD to date. I never played Victoria 1 and all that info is confusing like hell. But it was the same with HOI3. Reading the manual and the strategy guide didn't help much. The only thing that get me goinig was as I said previously the AARs from some really talented and dedicated members of these forums.

Probably Sardinia-Piedmont - a small country with big ambitions. Then, once trounced by Austria and Friends, Uruguay or Belgium. Then back to S-P...
Belgium will probably be my first game. 'Twas my first with the first Victoria and shall be this.
USA to get a feel for it, then Prussia/Germany, and after that rotating between Wallachia/Romania, Russia, Sardinia-Piedmont/Italy, Japan, China, Persia, and Ethiopia (if they make uncivilized nations playable without being good at the game:rofl.

I want it to be necessary to be good at the game to play uncivilized nations, and in doing so it should be possible to completely Kick Ass, not just survive.

I believe it's partly that and partly that is required constant micromanagement. I mean, you had micromanagement with China or Russia but at least it was all in one place, so to speak. With Britain you had to micromanage entire globe and thousands of different pops.
For me:

In my first Vicky game I used Nejd. I declared war on Ottoman Empire just after a few months. I thought that my guerrilla warfare would be able to crush the Ottoman armies and liberate all arab peoples
Er...I guess some easy country to learn the new mechanics, probably Brazil.

May not be possible here, due to the introduction of limited land-space. You may have to go a'conquering as Uruguay for lebensraum. We'll see though, how many immigrants it'll be possible to pack into what I like to call the Superior Guay when the game comes out. I for one am looking forward o it.
