Does it only speed up new games?
I loaded up a 1947 game. It ran as sluggish, if not more, than before. The only real changes was I had a lot less leadership and IC to play with.

Not drastically faster, still about 10 seconds a day and that's just in windowed mode.
Its certainly faster but I think there is still a leak somewhere because it does get notably slower as time goes on. Like someone else said, quitting and reloading tends to fix the problem temporarily. Even so the game is playable now so good job Paradox.
Ive been playing in windowed mode for a while because in 1.1 my computer would crash (blue-screen) when I tried to quit. At least windowed mode allowed me to use task manager to end the game before it crashed. 1.2 doesn't seem to crash when I try to quit in windowed mode but I was playing full screen earlier and the thing randomly crashed (again blue screen). I don't know if it was a odd thing or if it will happen every time but im about to go find out.

no its not. Are you telling me you seriously micromanagement every single hour of the game? The seconds/hours you are not micromanaging I would like the game to actually run without lag.
Its subjective and relative. In short people's lag are improving to a point we can deal with it.
The patch is a vast improvement: now the game is playable for me.
However, there is still lag in the map and the memory leak is still there and the velocity is clearly much slower than HOI2 (or EUIII for that matter). I think the game would be fantastic after a new patch.

Btw: I forgot to ask: What is your current checksum? I have FAOK, but I 'am not sure if this is the real vanilla 1.2 checksum^^
Speed is better than vanilla, but still a bit slower than the community fix.
However, later you still get interface lag and delay. Though you now need to restart every 4h instead of every 1h.

2 secs a day on Terrain mapmode, and 3 on political...
And yeah, I to notice that in 37-38 it starts to slow down.. luckily it's only reached the playable slow speed I had in the start of pre-patch times

my game seems to take about twice as long to load for some reason.
However the speed is much better, about 4 seconds a day in 36' starts... by the time i get to Sept 39 (hands off game, El Salvador ) it take 8.5 seconds/day

I was able to completely rearrange the corps, build extra armies and HQs and change out all of the leaders without any slow downs during that process, so that part has been changed.
Before, it was the lists that caused lag. If I was moving stuff around in the the cues for production, technologies or leaders, the lag would build while I was moving and changing items. That part of the lag issue has been resolved.

10 second days, Germany, '44 scenario. I figure it's not going to get any slower than that for me. Estimate by feel, about twice as fast as 1.1.
It loads incredibly faster, but the game speed is essentually unchanged. This, coupled with the fact I can't declare war as a totalitarian nation still makes playing the game more of a chore than fun.
Most of the time I'm trying to keep my economy from crumbling and changing my government type... which are both now a chore in themselves.

AI invaded ethopia for me and wrapped up by march.
game runs very smoothly indeed.
Trading AI doesnt work though ( I almost had no rares left by the time I jumped in to stop it ) and the auto sliders mess things up, but I can still do that manually. Now not getting spammed by trade deals which is great. Havent seen the weather problems yet, but no doubt will.
All in all, this is what it should have been to start with. Now for the rest of the patches

I need about 15 seconds per day, with 1.1c I used to need almost 20 per day.
So better, but still not great.
