Not sure how well it would work, but with the various new features in CK3, it might actually work pretty well, so a Wheel of Time mod would be interesting to see. Maybe even see some "old school" fans make a mod for DragonLance or Forgotten Realms. For something a lot more unusual and perhaps much less well known... a Black Jewels mod, including the 3 realms. I think that last one would make for a very interesting mod, but would require a huge amount of work to make it work even remotely well as it's a very unusual story. Of course, it may not even be possible to make it as it doesn't really fit into the idea of feudalism and the story doesn't cover a very lengthy period of history, so you'd have to either limit the game to 100-200 years or figure out how to make it workable with a longer time period.

I hope there will be a CK3-version of HIP. But no doubt that it will take a long time before such mod would be available!

I am committed to moving SWMH to CK3 already, and letting SWMH go into maintenance mode in CK2. My fellow modders are going to get a feel for how CK3 plays, before they commit to any modding plans, if they even decide to mod CK3 at all. For the time being they are sticking to CK2 modding

I would love to see a "Vicky"-Mod!

Instead of barracks in castles you build manufacturing plants in factories.
Instead of Kaiser you have Kanzler.
Instead of dynasties you have political parties.

etc.

Patrum Scuta, I used Solo Adhémer's mod (which was not named Patrum Scuta then) for CK1 and use his CKII Ironman version now. I hope he will continue his work for CKIII.

There are of course many others, but those are such big projects that it will take years.

Long term, I'm definitely hoping for HIP to make it over - that mod made CK2 much more enjoyable than vanilla to the extent where I very rarely played the latter. Short term, probably some kind of community patch. They're always good to have.

I personally will wait for/make my own minor flavour mods for some regions

I have plans to do a mod that's essentially a collection/library of minor flavor mods akin to EUIV's Immersion Packs, that focus on specific regions/religions/cultures/etc., some more obscure than others. No idea where I'll go first, but do look forward to seeing what's possible with the modding for this game.

One other world I'd be interested in seeing a mod for is for Crown of Stars by Kate Elliott. It's basically an alternate history world set in the medieval time period, though it has fantasy added in. Things are not quite the same (even beyond the fantasy aspects) as the real world, but are similar enough to give you an idea that it's related. For example, Catholicism is replaced by the Unities, which has a Lord and Lady for God and the Pope is the Skopos, which is a female position. The main realm in the game is led by the King of Wendar and Varre, which correlate with real locations. It's based heaving on a combination of castle holdings and bishop holdings, and though there isn't a lot of talk about city holdings, they are present, such as in Gent. The main vassals are dukes, which are also known as princes of the realm whether or not they are related by blood (or whether or not they are male). You of course also have counts. They even talk about the Marches, which we now have in CK3. Other parts of the world are also in there, though less is talked about regarding them so it would probably need some creative liberties, but I think that's fine. I am not sure there is an actual map for the series, which could make it a challenge, though it should still be doable.

I will try to work on modding the following features (as far as will be possible in the modding script):
  • Add more interactivity to alliances beyond just the ability to join a war.
  • Fix the problem with Sunni Islam representation: Ash'ari and Maturidi should not be individual "Faiths" within Sunni Islam as the general Muslim population has never identified as such in history. Neither are the differences between Ash'ari and Maturidi of such a nature to warrant being separated as faiths. Instead these should be schools of thought that Sunni scholars or rulers can ascribe to (like in CK2).
    • Personally, I hope that Paradox will do a full DLC about Islam later on and represent the religion in its own special way rather than using the same model that is used for a completely differently structured religion i.e. Christianity.
