First Foray into the Realm of Stony Road

I recently installed Historical Stony Road 1.06 and all I can say is.....my god!

I'm currently playing Republican Spain, the civil war has been raging for almost two years now, and the battle lines have barely moved anywhere, the Nationalists do have the momentum though as slowly (very slowly) they are advancing deeper into spain, I've been able to win some battles to take land back but any attempt at an offensive into their territory gets repulsed.

Neither my army or theirs contain very many quality units but the Nationalist Army is much larger than anything I've seen in HOI 1.06c Vanilla or in C.O.R.E.

The Nationalists are composed of 8 infantry divs., 2 motorized divs., 2 armoured divs., 71 militia divs., and a very decent air force. Normally thats unheard of in the Spanish Civil War. I am thoroughly enjoying it, what a great mod!

What does the Stony Road Mod do? I thought it just added a few new events for Germany :S. It's not like CORE, is it? I hope not...

Well, I lost the Civil War to the Nationalists. So I started another game, again as Rep. Spain and this time I prepared slightly better for it by building some infantry, militia and even some cavalry. I then held them in the deploy pool until the break out of the war and then deployed . As soon as the war broke out, I moved quickly to seize territory and create a good defensive line before the Nationalists could swarm over. I hoped to put the pressure on early before they could build a big army and have firm foothold. It took a little longer than expected, the Nationalists put up a fight but I beat them in one year (Vive La Republic!!!). Afterward I disbanded all my militia and researched for the next couple of years. September of 39' Germany invades Poland and steamrolls them.
I join the allies and send some forces into France to aid in the defense. By now the U.S has joined the allies along with several other minor countries, they all send troops to France. The invasion begins and although we had a stubborn defense, Vichy France fires within two months. In the ensuing blitz by the Weirmacht, my forces are cut off and stranded in France, they are quickly destroyed. Germay waists no time in rushing it's army down toward Spain where I have formed a defensive line across the border with France but to no avail. They smash through my lines without any trouble and overrun my entire country in short order. :wacko: I knew joingthe allies was asking for trouble!

i love the stoney road mod , currently playing as germany , and uk on hard , both are really challenging games
