if i knew how to mod the game i'd consider doing it myself just for the heck of it :D

...

Altough it would probably first be plausible to do when we get Rebels with a Cause in 1.10/TOG

Ah, what a joke.

All of Europe you say?
On my last game i've just erradicated the Mongol Horde and conquered all of Europe, Scandinavia, West Asia and North Africa as the Count of Demond.
Now I need to defeat those Ilkhanate chaps and take the Byz Empire and I'm done :)

Anyway, will Aztecs be playable with Old Golds?
I have the DLC but never used because they aren't playable, not because it's fictional.

I'm fairly certain it was said that they were, but you'd have to wait until they show up, save and reload as an aztec though if you want to play the aztec empire itself IIRC as they don't show up in any of the bookmarks.

The condescending nerd behavior re: SI with the simultaneous gleeful fanboyism of this April Fool's joke is both hilarious and sad. Hypocrisy, FTW. That said, if this were real, I wouldn't buy it because I have zero interest in zombies. (I prefer vampires for my undead). But you wouldn't see me running about the forums, whining like a bloody two year old in near every thread crying about something that's over and done with.

Nice conspiracy of “cool” theory. However, you are completely wrong it is not “the only explanation”, as I have seen you post similar paranoid delusions in other threads I will explain it to you:

Firstly, what are some of the most popular recent fantasy novels/games/movies?

LOTR, Game of Thrones, Warhammer, World of Warcraft (not to mention Walking Dead).

How many Aztecs or Aztec themes are in those…?

How many of these contain elements of zombie/undead/nazgul/vampire?

You see the distinction now? Zombies are a widely popular theme of interest to many people. Aztecs are not. As far as I know it was you Valinn who was the only person to make a post about how you would like to see Aztecs in CK2. Congrats you got “the toy you wanted”. For you to try and condemn others for disliking Aztecs and stating they would have preferred something else as selfish and immature is a bit rich. Let me repeat: Aztec is not a popular theme in fantasy. If people aren’t interested in it, its not just because they “acting out” and “trying to be cool”.

It WAS about fantasy DLC and history. Aztecs were an historical civilization. Their invasion of Europe defies all logistical reality and historical plausibility. This idea sits awkwardly between the two sides and lacks the legitimacy or force of either, not to mention is not playable. If Paradox wants to release a fantasy optional DLC go all out I say, not halfassed Aztecs. Horrah for Elves, Vampires, Liion-Men, Ninjas-robots (ok maybe not that ).

Wow. What a post.

But you are sort of proving my point, no? The explanation you give here was one that nobody ever said once at the time. Or at all, until now that you have to explain why the same people who hated fantasy DLC back then love it now. So now it's not because Aztecs invading Europe was an unrealistic fantasy polluting a historically-based game, but that the Aztecs weren't fantastical enough? Or they weren't your favorite brand of fantasy? What people really wanted then was bigger more extreme fantasy? Elves and orcs and zombies and aliens?

You know what people did say then? They were furious Paradox was wasting precious resources on fantasy instead of making republics, or pagans, or theocracies. And that they believed Paradox now wouldn't make the DLC they wanted because they were instead going to make more fantasy ones. But now that folks got republics, are getting pagans soon, and will most certainly get theocracies next -- now it's all okay.

I'd hardly call that a conspiracy theory. It's pretty much directly what folks said. I just wish they'd own up to it instead of pulling new silly excuses and distinctions out of their hats.

There is also an element that zombies are obviously fantasy, Aztecs is just fantastically bad history, and as most people who play Paradox games are history fans its sure to rankle more heavily than something that is more obviously so. Additionally Valinn makes a good point above me.

Plus, viking raids on a zombie coast. Sounds pretty cool to me.

Ah, what a joke.

Yeah, what would be the next? A game where Neustria can conquer half Europe in the livespan of one single king or one where a bunch of Arabian tribesmen could conquer everything between the Atlantic and India whilst threatening to destroy the Eastern Roman Empire twice?

Again, aside the fact that Sunset Invasion is simply impossible even with XXth century logistics, this DLC's nonsense is far greater than Ireland conquering the whole map. Why? Simple: The Aztec Empire did not exist until 1428. Even a Chinese invasion coming from the Indic would make a lot more sense.

In reality, an army of armored knights wold be able to stop a zombie invasion quite effectivly as long as they knew how to slay them. And If just one of the knight had a fully covering chain mail he wold be untutchable as he woldent be able to be bitten.

Now you know all you need to survive an Zombie apocalyps xD

No, it's not hypocrisy. I thought that Sunset Invasion was a stupid idea from a gameplay standpoint because adding two hordes was wrong and still made the HRE the last survivors of the hordes. This one however has very unique gameplay elements to make the game feel fresh again, and will actually cause the black plague feel more deadly. Having a late-game character conflict is much more creative than "(Insert native American tribe) invasion DLC".

No, that's what made it an excellent gameplay idea. It added an end-game challenge to the western part of the map, which got stale and boring once you built your massive empire up by 1200. In the east, you had the Mongols to deal with. In the west, just more boring blobbing for 250 more years.

Which is why, it's my understanding, Sunset Invasion is usually used in multiplayer games. It balances the western map with the eastern map.

Whatever you think about it as a concept, you really can't complain about the gameplay impact because it's here that there's really no possibility for complaint.

Unless you just hate hordes. In which case, you just don't like CK2. That or you're a newbie who doesn't yet know how to build an empire sufficient to play against them fast enough.
