Agrarian Idyll Farms now produce 1 Unity Pacifist, not Authoritarian
Inwards Perfection +30% Unity, +5% Happiness for citizen pops Pacifist, Xenophobe
Police State -20 Unrest not Fanatic Egalitarian
looks like a fun combo to try as pacifist\xenophobe ...and spiritualist or fanatic. not sure
focus on food\unity...and enslave all xenos.
and after you're done (or if someone will piss you)- change to f.purifiers and cleanse the galaxy
While I'm itching to play my Flytrap people again, only this time with the slogan "Give us Snacks not Slaves". I order to honor my first trip in to Stellaris I'll be remaking my Overly Pious Rabbit Crusaders. <3
I'm leaning towards a Xenophobic Egalitarian empire, probably with Materialistic as my 3rd ethic, though I might push one of the first two to fanatical. All people are equal, but aliens aren't people, so there's nothing wrong with enslaving them. Syncretic evolution is a must, not decided on the other civic. Long term plans are for the gene-modding perks and make everything other than them mindless drones that taste damn good. Got to have a pretty cute portrait for all this, probably the space foxes.
I'm going to read that as civic combinations, and note that this game has possibly too many different properties that we as a community are not yet familiar enough with to keep our words straight.
Mechanist and Technocracy is what I've settled on for my first run through. Not that exciting I'm afraid. But I intend to drop Technocracy once Synthetics are researched and instead swap it out for either police state, or nationalistic zeal.
If I'm unsatisfied with my unity growth at that stage, or if I'm not nearly close enough to getting Synthetic Ascension, I'm toying with the idea of throwing an embrace of my pacifist faction into the mix before changing my government, and then switching gears to Mechanist, Inward Perfection until I've gotten that 4th ascension perk. But this would have to wait until I've already nabbed a slave species that I'm happy with.
I was meaning things like Quick Learner, Slow Breeder i.e. traits (as was). I knew Govt's were now Auth+Civics but I'd somehow assumed traits were still there in some form...why? Because they are mentioned in the patch notes:
# Traits
* NEW: Wasteful trait added to the game
* NEW: Conservational trait added to the game
* Decadent trait now requires authoritarian or xenophobe ethics

I honestly haven't even given traits a thought. Since they're permanent I usually just aim for the most blandly effective ones and call it good. Intelligent and Thrifty.
Now, going Materialistic means a reduction to the cost of maintaining robots, but on the other hand, to have too much energy requires dramatic mismanagement of your in game opportunities.
I'd have a hard time describing Trumpo's stomping of the EPA, climate research and American science in general plus Mike "Fruits into Vegetables" Pence & the Religious Right as anything resembling Materialist, even squinting very hard in the dark with my head sideways.
Anyway, I've mostly cristalized on my decision for the Hakari Hegemony. It'll be Authoritarian Fanatic Spiritualist Oligarchy with Police State and Functional Architecture, with Effiicent Bureaucracy tacked on later when I reform my government to a Dictatorship. I wonder the name that arises from that. Traits will be Conformists, Sedentary and Slow Learners, and either Communal + Natural Engineers or Talented. Still undecided on that bit. Ascension will be Psionic. Ruler title will be the Sovereign Speaker.
Second to play will be an Arthropoid empire, the Kell'zevak Community. Fanatic Egalitarian Materialist Democracy. Traits will be Extremely Adaptive, Deviants and Weak. Civics will be Environmentalist, Idealistic Foundation and Beacon of Liberty later on. No ascension path. Ruler title is Prime Chancellor. Description in spoiler:
A highly decentralized society focused on the well-being of its populace and on guaranteeing the freedom of its citizens. Created after a massive worldwide revolt by the enslaved working masses to break an extremely rigid class system and overthrow their decadent masters, the state rapidly reached a local post-scarcity in most basic resources, allowing for the creation of a strong welfare state and the free funding of exponentially developing technology. Now looking to the stars, colonial training programs, weapons development projects and orbital maneuvering simulations take up the time and interest of a large fraction of the Kell'zevak population.
I want to go moderately tall with this one, if that is even possible. I want to it to be very well-developed but not really tiny or anything.
Also planning for a Unity-focused build, but nothing concrete yet. Suggestions welcome!
