Can slaves be considered pets?![]()
I dunno, slavery and slave trade was present all across the kingdoms represented in CK3. Even Western Europe, an area where slavery largely disappeared during the game's time period, had active slavery at one point during the game's timespan in places like the British Isles or Spanish kingdoms, so it would seem weird to me that such a prevalent aspect of medieval society isn't represented in the game at all. That opens a whole new topic...
I do disapprove of a slavery mechanic, however enslaving my captured enemies and forcing them to be my pets does sound appealing.
Honestly the big game-changer for fantasy mods from this would be the animal breeding and specifically the ability to block marriages/reproduction between species. A lot of fantasy settings have e.g. dwarves and dragons as potentially playable characters but being unable to have kids with each other, but you can't do that in-game. Instead you have to rely on clunky solutions like auto-divorcing mixed-species couples and forcing their offspring to be stillborn. Which inevitably leads to bugs and weirdness (especially if you have, for instance, a human conquering a dragon province: the AI will present debutantes that half the time will be dragons, and then marry them, divorce them, remarry them, divorce, etc., all while leaving a trail of stillborn kids).
The downside is that it would make the mighty Horse Empire obsolete, but I suspect we'll survive.
I want a pet Winged Hussar. I will call him Dragon.
How else can you expect him to survive on the battlefield?
Related: I, for one, actually like the "rerelease the same major expansion each generation" model of The Sims because I don't like pets in the game and know I can just skip it. And I've actually waited for a University expansion before buying each of the last three generations. It's very handy. [Now, their "$9.99 for minor stuff packs that are just a few pieces of clothes, three hairstyles, and a couple pieces of furniture" model is another matter entirely...]Taking the Sims route, I see
