So, I recently finished a one-tag/one-faith world conquest as Austria, and I decided I wanted to do something different for the variety and more of a challenge as I think Austria is probably the easy button of WCs. I don't have a lot of time in game yet (five or six campaigns total with only two going past 1530), but I thought this sounded like a fun challenge.
In the old days, you could get by without being Western and spending the 75 points on that, but apparently it's been fixed. I'm coming up with the ideas and would like some help as the only successful games like this I've seen are from a while back and have those extra 75 points to spend.
I'm thinking of starting in Chortli, right next to the Kiche although starting near Canada or in Brazil would get me the opportunity to move to the Old World a lot faster. Going north, I'd be stuck at Greenland for colonizing, but closer to what I need to conquer. Going to Brazil, I think I can get to West Africa. Conquering through Africa, I should be able to embrace the institutions a lot more quickly.
I've got an age 20 0/0/0 ruler with Malevolent, an age 0 0/0/0 heir, and a 0/0/0 consort with Loose Lips. That's worth -49 points, so I have 33 points to spend. Here's a look at my current idea set. I have enough points to make the last idea a level 2 or to move a couple of the ideas further up.
I think the set I have is decent, but I could use some help on the best ideas and where to put them. Any level 2 idea I move later in the chain means a few less points spent but also less time with the benefits. Unfortunately, I can't afford a colonist, so Exploration would be my first idea group. This will also be my first game with Mandate of Heaven (and Third Rome although that shouldn't matter), so any simple tips on that would be nice as well. I now have all DLC other than CoC.
Edit: The government is set up as a Despotic Monarchy although I could go with a Feudal Monarchy as well. Also, what culture might be good to use?
