In the cold halls of the Vnet lobby, Warspite waited for the barbarian clans to arrive. Finally, a challenger came, that of the DB clan Lord Joseph.

Now Joseph claimed he was not a fighter, rather a lover of peace. However as a true Roman, I did not trust the barbarian and I forced him into battle. I gave him the choice of weapons on the battlefield. He chose Hungary and I got Austria. Let the blood sport begin (not all clan matches have to be wars, this was just the first clan meeting online so I wanted to show some teeth :D nice huh!)

Austria chose to break the royal marriage and then Hungary declared war. The battle had begun. His massive 50,000 army lunged down into Vienna against 40,000 of my troops, he massacred me grrrr. Online Lagg began to set in so it was hard for both of us to watch the battles, one second a battle started, then lagg, then boom the battle was over, it was definitely hard to avoid unnecessary losses.

Dispite Hungarian early gains, I was able to muster up a formidable force after my first defeat and I charged after him, GET OUT OF MY COUNTRY I YELLED  and thus his army was routed in fear and panic. After regrouping my Romans I began to march into Hungarian territory while it appeared Joseph regrouped in carpathia.

I laid siege to krain, odenburg and magyar. Hungary tried in vain to repulse my forces in magyar but we only managed to butcher each others army. He was now down to only a few thousand while I was 20,000 strong.

After I took magyar, krain and odenburg in siege. Hungary now had a sizable army and began to pick away at my forces. I was near collapse as I ran out of money and recruits. Instead of going for the throat however, hungary chose to siege magyar with his 19000 men. I had a token force of 8000 running around. he retook magyar and went after Vienna

At last I got more money and built another small invasion force. with 14000 men I sieged magyar. Hungary was marching for Vienna with 18000 so I recruited 44000 men quickly and he broke off the march and didn't know where to go. Just when he restarted to march against Vienna with 18000 vs my 44000 the game crashed.

War totals.
Austria (Romans) 58,000 men standing,
sieging magyar with 14,000
odenburg and krain was controlled by Austria.

Hungary (DB) had 18,000+ men
did not own any Austrian land.

The Roman Clan claims a VICTORY (and the crowd cheers)

OOC: too bad we had so much lagg joseph, made it hard to know what was going on, but it was a fun first battle all the same. See you next time, maybe on peaceful terms:cool:

you neglected to include that your 44,000 was runinng from mine with weak moral... and i had another 14,000 on my way to lift the siege on Magyar... but i will consent that you won the initial battle, time and lag called before i could recapture lost territories. The Austria army was on the run, and rebels had sieged on of their provinces. Had the game lasted longer, victory surely would have been in the hands of the Deshi-Bahini.

FYI... clan battles.. do we need to cancel alliances... this is totally opposite how i play.

negative LJoseph, my 44,000 had perfect morale because just as you were marching towards Vienna, i spent all my money on about 5 instant mercenary groups and they start out with perfect morale. they stood firm in Vienna waiting for your attack. perhaps lagg made my army look like it was walking to you, i assure you it wasn't:)

all i remember is i began to siege magyar with 14000, while your 18000 marched toward vienna, then soon as you saw my massive army pop up to defend vienna (my little surprise), i noticed you changed directions in marching about three times. then you finally headed to vienna again and then crash, bummer

It was fun though, thanks for sticking it out with me because i know you are not use to nonstop battles like that. The Romans are willing to give lessons in battle tactics....NEXT!:D

NEUTRAL: The Ultimate Evil!

Bah, Warspite... Lord Joseph was about to crush you...when you so conveniently fled.... :p

Anyone feel like a Deshi-Bahini Vs. Roman match on Saturday? Expose how old and feeble the Roman warriors are? Maybe Noon Greenwich meridian?

warspite did beat me... lag played a part... as did bad luck... plus i am not used to just warring... but he deserves a little... very little... credit...

As Lord Protector of the Archangelic Order I would rather have the romans defeat me the hungarians or croatians...

FIRST BLOOD finally!!!!!

It seems to me that Warspite had his lucky day!!:D :D or......

Warspite I do not think Austria and Hungary are in the same weight-group. I believe they should be in more or less the same one, however since Austria has a gold mine and it is a much more coherent country (Hungary has state culture in only 3 out of its 9 provinces, which is really a shame!!!!). Thus You as Austria benefit from building more troops, as You have much more income, although probably limited in manpower. If the war drags on Hungary also suffers from the many revolts (remember 6 out of 9 provinces have additional revolt risks), thus frankly I do not really see that Hungary has a chance agains Austria if both controlled by Humans, and there is an early war, not giving enough time for Hungary to strengthen itself.

I urge for fairness gentlemen! :D :D

Anyhow, great skirmish!!!!

Cheriooo:D :D
