Here goes, I wanted to detail as much as possible, however it was the first time I had completed a campaign, and wanted to broadcast my achievements to the world
Screenshots will be coming asap

Anyway, here we go:

Scenario: England IGC2.0/EU 1.08
Settings: Normal/Normal
(forgive a relative newbie……..)
Missions: Off
Random & Historical Events: On

Jan 1492 – Jul 1492: A lightening strike on the “Sweaties”, resulting in forced annexation.
1492 – 1518: Cannot remember too much, apart from France (Savoy, Papal States, Navarra, Pol – Lit & Helvetia) foolishly (in my mind), declaring war on little old me (Spain & Palatinat). I think I did rather well, and managed to come out of it relatively unscathed, (my first major war as well ), grabbing Picardie and 250g. I also nicked some maps off the “Frogs”, and now knew parts of Africa, the Goan coastline of India, Bali and few other islands in that region. Spain however did not fare that well at all, losing Flandres to Papal States !!, Aragon & Gerona to Navarra, but did manage to grab Rousillon from the French and Rmagna from the Pope (a strange price to pay for losing a relatively rich CoT (at that time). Everyone else involved was either bought off, or a white peace was signed.
Dec 1520: Rebels seized control of Flandres, this episode got me thinking……a possible CoT up for grabs…….
The pope’s alliance expires in May 1525. I decide to build up my forces in Calais in preparation for stage 1 in my plan.

My current holding at the end of 1518 stood at all of the home territories, Calais, Picardie and a level 1 colony in “New England” (to coin a phrase), Fundy.

1520-1538: During this period I converted to Protestant (wanted the cash & colonists).
1525: The Pope’s alliance with France et all expired, and I put my plan into action. War was declared, Falndres was stormed and taken by The Life Guard (ably commanded by Brandon).
My colonisation process was slowly beginning to take shape Fundy was now level 3, and I had started to build one in Santee. TP’s were also set up in Ciskei, Cochin & Trivandrum (the latter crucial to the next stage of my plan).

France in the meantime had annexed both Milan & Lorraine, and had somehow grabbed a couple of territories from Austria, along with seizing Romagna from Spain – something tells me I would have to keep a close eye on these guys.

1529: Converted to Protestant (as mentioned before), although I wasn’t the first. I quickly forged an alliance with Hannover & The Palatinat (better some than none). Revolts spread like wildfire, but were swiftly crushed in Midlands, Wales, Bristol & Grampians.

Vp’s in March 1538 stood at 582, currently top (surprise, surprise) with Frnace on 379 and Spain on 373.

1538-1603: Colonisation and economy were priorities. New England had grown to 13 territories (including the gold rich Monterey & Yukon). 2 African colonies in Leone & Ciskei, along with a TP in Namaqua. India was beginning to develop qwith a total of 10 colonies (including those of Mysore – forced annexation). Hyderabad were next on my shopping list. However their alliance with the Mughals did not expire until June 1610, so I would have to bide my time. Overall stability had improved with few revolts.
I had vassalised both Kleves & Hannover, and I lead an alliance of these two, plus The Palatinat & Iroqouis. Rm’s were held with Brandenburg, Palatinat & Saxony.

So far so good…………

1603-1787: I cannot remember exactly, but I lost both picardie & Flandres to France early in this period. More than likely when weakened after a particularly brutal campaign in India ( a bit more about that later).
Politically Europe was changed beyond recognition. I had won Hainult, Cologne and annexed The Palatinat in 2 long and bloody campaigns with France. The 2nd stage of my plan could now take shape, but first India……….
2 extremely long wars with both Hyderabad & the Mughals resulted in annexation of them both (the rich CoT in Delhi being the obvious carrot. Colony wse I had been lucky and held most of the Indian sub continent (apart from a TP of portugal’s in Ganges). Goa and Bangalore were taken from Portugal after they decided to test my metal. As Goa had a shipyard, taking these give me a nice edge in that part of the world.
Delhi’s CoTwas reaping huge financial gains for me(see screen shot). I also owned CoT’s in Anglia, Yukon, Ciskei & Isle Royale. Money was rolling in, but at a price. The constant threat of rebellion in India forced me to have huge standing armies. An average of approx. 35,000 men were kept in each “important” province, with the largest of 76,000 in Delhi.
Towards the end of the game, most of my original objectives were met. With the almost limitless amount of money I was generating I managed to spend 100’s and managed to diplo-annex Hessen, Hannover, Saxony, Brandenburg & Hanseatic League. My resulting armies in these province’s were huge(see screen shot).

As at Jan 1787, Vp’s stood as follows:

England 4183
Spain 3837
Pol-Lit 2388
Austria 2221
France 2012

For those that are interested, and if I managed to interpret it correctly, my BB rating was 23.

Next step, is a more detailed campaign. I hope you enjoyed my little foray, aplogies for a lack of a lot of detail. I only decided to write something up today, and hadn’t really got that many screenshots etc.

Cheers
Genghis

A good summary story m8. Were you not particularly interested in Australia and the Far East or were you too busy in India to devote the resources. And did grabbing the gold mines early on give you a helpful financial boost or were you hit by heavy inflation? Good stuff, I look forward to the next one. England again, or someone different?

India - a blessing or not ?

Ariel

I must say, India took up a lot of my time. At one stage every province I had was revolting, with 40-50k rebel armies, and if I remember correctly, I was hit with the stability -3 random event at least 5 times in 1 year

By the time I'd managed to get it under control, I'd lost out ( to a certain extent) on the Far East etc.

Grab those gold province's.......don't worry about inflation (or at least I didn't). I was lucky in that I had the negative inflation event a couple of times. I'd say Moneterey is easier to colonise than Yukon.

Going to try something different next time, will let you know once I'm ready to start.

One thing I do need to do is sort out my screenshots, keep having a 'mare. Any suggestions ?

Spain losing Flandres

To be honest I cannot remember if it was in the same war or not (sorry). Once I've sorted out my screenshots, you'll be able to see how strange it looked.

Screenshots - You'll need a chunk of free web space from one of the free web space providers. Who is your ISP? You usually get a 10Mb allottment when you sign up. Then you'll need to create a basic web page, using Word or Frontpage, or coding by hand if you know html at all. Upload the page to the free we space and then put the link in the AAR, using the tags. More info on the FAQ thread. :D

Genghis - Re: screenshot. Whoa! What the heck's going on in Northern Spain? Is that the Genoese on a rampage or uber-Navarre? And am I right in thinking the Pope has nabbed Ragusa??? Weird...

You are right in that The Pope had grabbed Ragusa, along with Flandres. Spain had Romagna and then lost it to France.
As you pointed out N.Spain was weird, Navarra was on the rampage.

When I get the chance (and remember my password for Geocities, I'll put some more up.

Cheers
