So iam nearly done with my first playthrough and there were some problems and also good news about the patch.

First the good news:
  • I was playing a 600 Stars Galaxy and it runs a lot smother than my last 1.4 game but iam pretty sure on bigger Galaxies there is still a performance problem.
  • the new factions are a wonderful addition to the game and the new Utopia content is really nice to have.

Now to my problems:

  • Vanished Empire
After my second "Refugees Welcome" event, I`ve got the Planet, but the entire Empire vanished from the galaxy.
The Pops are still there, but the Empire is gone and you can Colonize or Terraform the Planet.

  • Sector AI
It looks like they are a little better now in building things, and the new "what i have in mind" function in great, but now all my sectors have minus Minerals. If i count the Mineral producing fields it looks okay to me, but in the Sector overview mot of them have minus Minerals. It looks like the Sector Pops are drawing their consumer goods from the sector.

  • Galactic Wonder
The Galactic Wonders are far to late in game and as you only can build one at a time they are not needed anymore. I got the very rare required Technology around 2370. At this time they are not needed anymore. And because you only can build one at a time they can never be usefull as it will last hundreds of years until you have build one of each. The most useless one is the research station, as mega engineering is one of the last techs you will needed at all.

BTW. The unbidden were a nice fight, but i needed some time and reengineering of their weapons to beat them. But after they spread out a bit it was rather easy to kill the fleets one by one. Teh had around 5 60K fleets and my fleet had around 110K. each fight cost around 5-10 K of fleetpoints.

Totally agree about the science station and Dyson sphere. I understand that they shouldn't be something you can build right out of the gate. But they are basically useless by the time you can build them. Especially for science. I hope the devs (or mods) address this with a hotfix in 1.6.

I agree the whole logic behind the mega structures is entirely backwards.

To get the mega science structure, you have to be at the end of the science tree already! Genius!

By the time you get the Dyson Sphere, you already are bringing in +300 Credits, and maxed credits indefinitely for the last 100 years! Genius!

By the time you can build the RingWorlds, you're already flowing in population, have built 5+ habitation modules or more, have maxed out energy, and credits, maxed out ascensions and unity, and have the strongest fleet in the game, and quite honestly the last thing you need right now is more population increasing your research cost and time. Genius!

Let's not forget about the sentry mega structure. BY the time you've got one of these bad boys, your empire, or alliance already has most of the galaxy under your control, and you can see 90% of the map already.. Genius!

Agree with first part, but you can get the wonders much much earlier. By 2400 I had already built the science Nexus, a Dyson sphere and a ringworld with one habitable section completed. Building them took maybe 110 years in total, which means I must have gotten the tech about 90 years into the game.

The performance on a 1000 star galaxy was fine until after the endgame crisis (unbidden), however by now it's getting slower and moving 100k fleetpower fleets is getting laggy.

maybe its enough to allow to build more than one mega structure at a time, so in late game they can make a difference. But only one dyson sphere at a time is far to slow, as you can get much more energy out of habitats, as you can build multiple at a time.

True, but doing that slows down research more because of the added research penalty. If you start building a Dyson sphere early enough, it's completed by the time the endgame starts.
