Finmark, Narvik, Iceland & Muscovy - worth it?

One concern I had about taking the Norwegian northern port provinces was whether this would affect where Russia's naval explorers would appear - I'm not sure if Russia's non-random explorers are scripted in AGCEEP to appear in specific provinces (assuming Russia owns them) or whether they're randomly assigned. In most cases I think I would want the non-random explorers to appear on Russia's pacific coast, so that I could explore Western USA, as by the time they're due to appear Eastern USA will probably be mostly colonised by other powers... Does anyone know the answer to this? Thanks

I think -- emphasize think -- that non-generic explorers always appear in your highest BTV home port, which means Russia will pretty much always get them in Europe unless in avoids taking European ports altogether. Generic explorers can be scripted to appear in a specific province, but I don't think Russia gets any of those.

I got an explorer in that goldproducing province on the eastern seaboard and I owned Narvik and Finnmark. Don't know if he was random or scripted though.

In AGCEEP, some of the explorers are located on the Eastern coast in leaders file and will appear there if you have colonized the area and have a suitable port.

Which file do I need to look at to check the locations the leaders can appear in? leaders.rus just has their stats. Its AGCEEP I'm concerned with, not vanilla BTW. Thanks!

See location entries for leaders in leaders.rus. You will have the id of the province and possibly the name of the province as comment or check province.csv if name is not mentioned.

Thanks, I see what you mean now. I notice Russia's two 17th Century Explorers don't have a specified location, so I guess will normally turn up somewhere in Europe, most likely Ingermand or one of the other Baltic provinces presumably.
