I hereby take upon me the great honor and responsibility of leading this most holy umma into greatness, inshallah. This is an extract from an old historical chronicle on the topic of the anarchic reign of Satajalka. It seems to have been edited by some amateur historian.
Following the death of Kalifi Armas the Young (peace be upon him) by the hands of the barbaric infidels of Lombardia, the throne was inherited by young Satajalka, who was only seven years of age at the time of his inauguration. Therefore, the great endeavor of holding together the Kalifaatti was temporarily undertaken by the industrious and wise Chancellor Aatso of Gorlice.
No more than two days after the death of Kalifi Armas (peace be upon him), the armies of the Christian infidels disbanded and fled the field of battle. Of course, the peasant leader was executed for his part in Armas’s death. Shortly after the death of this great Caliph of all Caliphs, the most greedy and vile King of Poland Lalli laid claim to the Kalifi title. The wise and cunning Chancellor Aatso saw that all that King Lalli wanted was the wealth and riches of this world and not the true glory of Allah that awaits us in the next, so he bought the foul king off with gifts and titles; Lalli was granted the newly acquired provinces in Jyllanti along with Poznan. (Note: This was in reality a very smart move on behalf of Aatso; the King of Poland woud have been very satisfied with all these grants)
The Caliph’s rightful demesne had grown too huge and unwieldy during the reign of Kalifi Armas (peace be upon him), and Chancellor Aatso spent most of the first year granting titles to the Kings (there really was only two) in order to satisfy their hunger for wealth and power, and he was also rewarded several holdings in Italia by the young Caliph as a reward for his faithful and diligent service.
In the month of November the very same year, Satajalka’s unfaithful and impious uncle Toivo of Verona was led astray in his belief in the Almighty One and declared war upon the Caliphate, massing the support of all the other false Muslims of the Middle East.
Simultaneously, the greed of King Lalli of Poland did not seem to have any boundaries and following Prince Toivo’s convenient uprising, he coerced many otherwise noble and pious lords into a rebellion. The reason he did not himself take part in this war to place his slothful butt upon the throne was pure cowardice.
Thus, before the end of 464 AH, the Caliphate had plunged into a double succession crisis. Most of the empire was in uproar. Chancellor Aatso focused his military power on the figurehead leader of King Lalli’s rebellion, who was based at Esztergom. The tactical side of the war quickly disappeared though, and was replaced by looting and lowly tricks.
In the year 469 Anno Hegirae, the young and adventurous Caliph Satajalka fell down from the walls of the palace in Pest and instantaneously died. Sallallahu alayhi wasallam. The new true successor of the Great Prophet is Satajalka’s brother Kalifi Sampo Karpathian, aged 8, and the new regent is Sampo’s mother, Titti.
He is only one of the many current contenders to the throne though. It is impossible to tell who will be victorious and seize control of the Caliphate. The current puppet in the capital? The hitherto somewhat passive claimant King Lalli, who is nevertheless supported by most of the nobles? The Sunni pretender backed by the doom stacks of the infidel Sunni Caliphate? Only time will tell.
I can post some pics of this Caliphate of Chaos tomorrow, along with the save game. My computer seems to be too exhausted to upload anything, despite the fact that my short reign only lasted 5 years.
EDIT: I've managed to include some screenshots of the empire before and during the Double Succession Crisis. The save game will have to wait...
