Finland not joining the Axis?

Hi again,

It's my first game of AoD. I'm Germany in 1941 preparing for Barbarossa. Things have gone pretty much historically, except that I invaded France in 1939, Republican Spain in 1940, invaded Denmark but skipped Norway, and Japan attacked the US in February 1941. To my surprise, Finland is not warming up to my suggestions of getting payback in the Soviets for the Winter War. Their Isolationism is so high that I can't even suggest an alliance.

Is something bugged in AoD?

Is it because I didn't invade Norway?

Is it because of some other ahistorical thing that occured?

Normally they join the Axis a few days after Germany declares war on the Soviet Union.

Soviets went win Socialism in my game, so no northern ally for me.

Half of my games as Germany I had could not even invite Finland to join. The only times I could is if Finland is Paternal Autocrat, I think in their elections in 1940 they need to elect right, after they make peace with Soviets and are not puppeted by them, they should become Paternal Autocrat. I never could get a "democratic" Finland to join Axis. Though I have seen in games where Germany is AI, they somehow get Finland into Axis as soon as they launch Barbarrossa regardless of Finland's government.
Actually Finland is historically flawed in AOD and HOI2, because when they join Axis and then later get defeated by Soviets, the Finland switches sides event makes Finland become Stalinist and a puppet of Soviet Union basically forever, but this is wrong because the Finland peace terms in real life were none of that, Finland was obliged to declare war on Germany and allow Soviet Union military access and build bases in Finland. But Finland retained it's non-communist political system and remained a neutral country in the WW2.

Got a 'demy' Finland in my latest game as Germany. Does anyone know the console command or .ini line to edit to force them into the Axis? Thanks.

Did you wait for the end of the winter war? This will be required for alliance. After that finnland should be more willing to join axis.

You would edit the save in the AoD/scenarios/savegames/save_name.eug file. Open it with Notepad or Notepad++.

Did you wait for the end of the winter war? This will be required for alliance. After that finnland should be more willing to join axis.

The Winter War went on until July of '40, but after the peace and before Barbarossa the option was greyed out because Finland "as a democracy can't join an alliance if their interventionism is low."

I thought the AI would auto-join after their peace treaty with Russia expired on christmas, but no.

I also loaded the game as the soviets and the Fins joined the Axis on the first day! What gives?

You would edit the save in the AoD/scenarios/savegames/save_name.eug file. Open it with Notepad or Notepad++.

I didn't know you could turn events off. I havn't messed with any elements of the game save for some texture mods.

Open the console "§" and type "acceptall", hit enter. Invite them to the axis and voila! Then open your console and type "acceptall" again.

Afaik that does not work in case of isolationistic democracy.

The option to invite is greyed out so that won't work.

you could use acceptall by DOW on them.then make them sue for peace before any combat.
