What warscore do you need to demand territories?

My first GC '36 I played as finland (declined winter war) wait till barborssa and then booted russian out of finland. I was then hoping to take lenningrad (failed) so decided to opt for original two provinces I gave up in declining winter war.

I had warscore of 8% and territories demanded came to 5% and russians declined.

What score do I need to get to demand those two territories?

Major alliances (Comintern, allies, axis) are scripted not to accept ANY peace (except by event)

To get those territories one should push for bitter peace. Warscore means little when you are fighting the Big Guys. So, no more getting a couple of provinces through a hastly peace when your opponent has 20 times stronger army :D

IMHO the war score system is pretty stupid. At SCW I got some territory from spain (i'm USSR, just declared war, did nothing).

During barbarossa portugal joined the axis, but I was able to roll over all of continental portugal. I would like to get some isles from them, but they won't accept peace terms, and I cannot annex :/

So sure, the war score works when minors fight each other, but even then complete annexation is often a better solution.

Ok. Think I wll restart the Finnish '36 GC. Made a few mistakes.
a) Didn't realize I needed Garrsions for Murmansk and Kola.
b) Have to research redeployment to move garrisons.
c) Have to find way of gaining enough units without overloading TC. My efficiency was in the 30's
d) To take Lenningrad need engineers + fortress buster

Two questions:
1) When I produced brigades the deployment screen wouldn't allow me to attach my armies. Can't remember exactly but ended up having to move unit to helsinki and then attach brigade. What limitations are placed on deploying units/brigades?

2) Whats the best method of raising my efficiency? Infrastructure or techs? Finland only has 13IC raised to 16 through techs.

Techs are a must-have. Get those TC-rising techs.
Tech focus:
IC techs
Manpower techs
Infantry (I mean vanilla infantry. Don't bother with marines...)
Land doctrines.

And build a few land forts too, once you get Improved Construction engineering.
A Mannerheim Line along the entire border, even if it's only 2 levels, is a good way to stop the initial Bolchevik attack.

Yeah sussed that one already. Although made mistake of building in wrong places (placed on my border with russia before kicked russians out), will build on borders after kick russains out.

Seeing as this is my first GC, haven't really tried the battle scenarios (apart from you guessed ... the finnish one) I think that playing Finland eases you into this game at just the right level (No naval, No Airforce) plus a few well placed , well armed and well led forces.

It can be boring, slowly building up and waiting....waiting.....But can see how much more there is to this game and looking forward to playing one of the majors. But for learning the game I believe I picked the right country.

I prefer Republican Spain or Czechoslovakia for small, yet developed states. With Spain you get to fight for your survival right away, and with Cz, you don't have to fight at all if you play your cards right, i.e. deter and deny Hitler. And you can even join the Axis and grab a piece of Poland and later, if Germany doesn't føkk up, the southern USSR.

I started as Finland once, but their IC was so abyssmal that I quit.

As for my patriotic feelings for Norway, see my Finland comment above.
