I have fairly much industry compared to population. I have 3 factories in my nation, one of which has capacity of 10 workers (by accidental click), but now all my RGO's in most populated province are empty and I need more factories. Conclusion: Need more people.

As my astonishing *cough* paint skill shows, most of my people are liberals (due to large Clerck POP's), got suffrage, but still conservatives are getting most votes. This is bad because I can't build army, Capitalists are slower and I don't get immigrants. How would I get liberals into power? I had Liberal Revolution in 1843, but it never ended (although only plurality boost is left of it) so might it be reason for conservative vote boost?

In final, do immigrants want to come such places like Finland? I understand that I need empty factories to lure them, that's no problem, but I'm concerned about their will to come.

To get immigrants you need to max your plurality, fast. Once the USA has had the civil war they will usually steal all immigrants unless you've got 100% plurality, a full citizenship party in power and max social reforms.

Hmmh, the Liberal Revolution just ended and Pularity dropped to 9,8.

I think I noticed why people are voting for SP, 98% of people think Pacifism is top priority in their life. And since SP has Pacifism as one of their aims, while Liberals are anti-military, the latter won't get votes.

I can't even force my people to breed, so sad.

IIRC the starting laissez faire parties are all minority parties, and as a result only swedish will vote for them. In vanilla victoria there are also too few people in Finland. I think it's close to 900 k, altough it should be something between 1 200 000 and 1 400 000 people.

Yeah, it lowers your workhour efficiency rating, meaning you get less goods, in addition to the direct payments.

On the subject at hand however, you could wait until you get the Populism vs. Establishment event and choose Establishment. That would cause all your liberals to vote liberal and all your conservatives to vote conservative and so on.

Well that's something new to me. I thought that social reforms are just differend words with differend militancy effects.

What's the best reform then? Unemployement money, perhaps? That sure is cheapest one.

Yup, I almost always grab good health care early and under fund it, if I know I might get stuck in liberal mode;) Under funding is a good way to increas counciosnes, wich leads to high plurality. Can be both good and bad

One benefit for a small accepted culture is insane research points. All you will need is a couple of colonies or Russian territory, and all the ethnic Finns can be converted into Clerks and still have a positive budget.

Russia doesn't have cores on the Baltic, so you can purchase it and turn all the natives into craftsmen (This comes out to like 20-25 workers if you migrate them on the Helsinki state).



On immigration, I didn't even know it was possible for an European country to receive a large amount of immigrants. I've played as liberal European countries (100% plurality and high reforms) and never received more than 10,000.


Seems the best way to expand is to conquer European provinces. You don't need a land connection for people to migrate within Europe. You can conquer a country that's bombed out on prestige or landlocked and get them to migrate to Finland.



In most of my games that's exactly what I do. I switch between reactionary and anarcho-liberal, state capitalism to build factories and anarcho-liberal to press slaves err new subjects into the workforce ;)

The running cost listed is the cost of the reform at 50% social spending, the level which your POP:s consider enough to make the reform beliveble.

I should have specified: you don't have to fund healthcare, though I always fund it at least at the minimum level for an interventionist government, as otherwise it's a bit.... gamey.

But aye, it works perfectly well as a population booster even if you're not paying a penny towards it.

Russia doesn't have cores on the Baltic, so you can purchase it and turn all the natives into craftsmen (This comes out to like 20-25 workers if you migrate them on the Helsinki state).



On immigration, I didn't even know it was possible for an European country to receive a large amount of immigrants. I've played as liberal European countries (100% plurality and high reforms) and never received more than 10,000.


Seems the best way to expand is to conquer European provinces. You don't need a land connection for people to migrate within Europe. You can conquer a country that's bombed out on prestige or landlocked and get them to migrate to Finland.



In most of my games that's exactly what I do. I switch between reactionary and anarcho-liberal, state capitalism to build factories and anarcho-liberal to press slaves err new subjects into the workforce ;)


I though about this too, but this is where the problems come.
First, my country is pacifistic, and all parties except Anarcho-Libs and Commies got Pacifistic or Anti-Military policy, making army building impossible. Second, I got only 8,000 money and that is usually spent on buying techs from Sweden and UK. So expansion is out of question, except maybe colonizing but that will come very late and I can afford only one or two provinces.

But good suggestionsm I'll get into them if I happen to get a chance ;)
I could try State Capitalism though, but that means communist party and it'll be risky because since I don't got a single soldier in my nation (well, 1,000 Russians) stopping rebellions will come.. quite hard.

Update!

Been playing bit more, and was totally surprised by the the million possibilities of V:R.

I turned by country into Presidental Dictatorship led by Anarcho-Liberals. I put many social reforms, and started to wait in hopes of my people starting to breed.

Then, suddendly, something completely insane happened.

Immigrants. Flooding into my country! From all over Europe, they are coming from doors and windows!

My factories and RGO's were full of Germans, French and Poles.

My population started to rise in such speed that many immigrants found themselves unemployed due to my factories still being expanded.

One very odd thing happened: Deserters from French and Bavarian armies came to Finland. You can see 13 soldier POP's in picture 1, 12 of them are non-Finnish.

My army is made of these POP's, and now my army consists of one Finnish, one German and one French division.

The most odd thing was that 80% of all immigrants went to Lapland, which was first the least industrialized area, now - as of 1880's - most industrialised and soon most populated are in Finland.


As of 1880, my Industrial base is 252, which is funny that population of whole country is still ~1,900,000 and five years ago the rate was 150.

I strongly recommend playing a game as Finland :D

Year 1885, Industry Rate is 350, 50% of population are foreigners, total population is nearing 3,000,000 :D

Majority of Laplanders are French, and all Lapland provinces' largest group is French :rofl:

If this speed goes on, I will be a GP with 15,000,000 people, 80% of them foreigners, by 1935.
