Well, they didn´t even exist when I turned into a democracy... and I tried my damnedest to swing opinion towards more conservative leanings during every election campaign, but my workers wouldn't have it that way. Then during the 1910's I got a lot of (I assume) random socialist demagogues and similar, so I just gave up on keeping them out of it. As I said, I haven't quite figured out this political business yet.

OK, new screenie of North America. Canada exists, UK owns a few bits of it still though. Russia has Alaska, and USA has taken a chunk of Mexico.

How come industrial output creates so much greater score than prestige? That must be the only reason France lost to Prussia, despite annexing half the country and Prussia obviously didn't do too well if they didn't create Germany ?

I'm just curious about prestige? It should be the highest of the 3, of course the other 2 all add into prestige, historically.

The statistics of other countries is not very revealing in-game. I might try to load the game as Brazil... no promises.

Hmm ... that U.S. population breakdown is kinda interesting, as it shows roughly equal numbers of Yankees and Dixies. The South would've needed a big population boom for that to happen. But then, those Southerners have always known how to multiply.

The U.S. must've really slapped Mexico around. Looks like they didn't bother to lift Cuba and P.R. off of Spain, though. No purchase of Alaska, either ... curious.

Anyone else find the visible garrisoning of the U.S.-Canadian border funny?

It might have increased alot via immigration durring that short period the South was independent. I want to know more about that repatriation event!

The population breakdown is only for the province of Washington, to get more in-depth info about the US I'd have to swithch to playing them.

There was no WW1 style war, it was pretty peaceful most of the time. But as I said, I did play with lowest aggression setting, which can be the explanation of that.

There were wars between Russia and Turkey, where UK got involved, so there was a Krimean type war that Russia won.
And there was a Franco-Prussian type war, which left Prussia the way it is on my first screenie, a poor excuse for a great power.

It's possible that low aggression settings hurt a nation like Prussia that feeds off war. Just a thought.

I think I'm going to try a smaller nation now, and try to keep a closer eye on politics. I think a small population would make that easier.

Build railroads (trade for higher rail tech with Prussia as soon as you see them upgrade their rail system), and steel factories. Import coal for the factories, you have plenty of iron. Use the steel to produce more expensive goods when you get the possibility. This way you can be the prime provider of these heavy goods while only importing low value raw materials, like coal and sulphur.
If you need cash, sell techs to Russia... I sold some techs at prices around 30.000£.
Stay on Russias good side at least until you're powerful enough to defend yourself.

Two new screenies of Brazil as per request. Brazil have built level 2 rail all over. They have annexed Uruguay and taken some province from France (part of French Guyana). Their military is extreme almost a third of their population are soldiers. (I really hope the next patch brings down the number of divisions for all countries).

1/3 of the POPs being soldiers is totally unrealistic.

By the way, why Brazil is still with the monarchy flag?
