Recently I was alerted that someone was selling a pop of my founding species on the slave market!
My first instinct was to buy them out / free them. But since I have slavery outlawed in my empire I would even be paying 200% price-tag!

Pigs! - Now I want to send in the Marines!! - Assembling a rescue fleet.

How do I find out who is offering them? - Maybe I can fight a liberation war and force them to accept my policies?

I had a federation going with migration treaties and all. Much later I decided that it would be better to have different allies and dissolved my first federation (- I retrofitted the federatiion fleet with one of my own designs, thus taking it private before I dissolved the federation: else I would have lost 2/3 of my standing fleet so to speak...).

So I guess that is the culprit. But I guess that empire had more migration treaties going as well - could be anywhere in the galaxy! - At least now I have a new Meta-Game: freeing my POPs from slavery on others empires planets!"

Edit: Oh my god - will I get an alert if someone is purging them or eating them?!? - Get me the fleet command ASAP... - need to setup a sentry-array as well, so I can find them wherever they may hide!! - (That would probably be the equivalent of the NSA^^).

Go through your migration treaty partners. Only the xenophobe and authoritarian ones can enslave aliens and thus sell them in slave market. You'll find a list of empire's species by hovering over their pop count in their contacts screen.
If it's none of those, you'll need to check all migration pacts that your migration pact friends have. And all former federation members. And maybe everyone who had maybe conquered a world from someone with migration pact with you...
It's probably easier if you just check every single authoritarian's and xenophobe's pops.

If I wait for the tooltip to come up when hovering over the "Empire Population" counter in the Diplomacy Screen when contacting empires it shows a breakdown how many pops from which species live in that empire. - I found a few different empires with my species pops, although none of them is Authoritarian or Xenophobe. - On the other hand: since I bought my pops free, I might have already solved the problem. - Two of the empires with my pops are Ruthless Capitalists / Corporations, one of them a Criminal Syndicate: once I have a good war fleet I'll make sure to pay them a visit - Yakuza / Comorra or whatever they are...
