I can get the list of the various non-spacefaring races off the f2 screen. But none of them are Neolithic or Pre-sentient. Does this mean there are none of these? I've also gone to the list of colonizable planets, but there doesn't seem to be an icon for these either.

Am I really unlucky, or is there something I'm missing?

Stone age primitives are a planet modifier. Go into the Expansion planner and look through the planets. To check if pre-sentients are present, go to the species tab and look for races that have (pre-sentient) written next to their Name.

Pre sentient species show up in the species tab. not the f2 tab.

Thanks. I found where they should be listed. Apparently there are none in this galaxy. (I've explored over half.) I'm looking in the right place - I was so sure I was looking in the wrong place when I found none that I went into an old game start and looked. That game did have some pre-sentients.

Does it feel to anyone else like pre-sapients aren't nearly common enough? By the time you've explored a chunk of the galaxy, there's probably several pre-spacefaring civs in the species tab, and maybe a couple of stone age primitives as planet modifiers. But pre-sapients? I think I've encountered 3 across the entirety of the 8 games I've played.

I agree. The devs can do something more here.

Let´s say more different techs for upliftig and much more pre sentients. If you play a humonoid it should be a different difficulty to uplift a great ape or to uplift a cockroach. Some more interesting techs in biology would be more fun. At the moment there is a lot of trash.

Maybe a common tech for the same species group and a purple one for other species groups and maybe a red one for late game to uplift something on every habitable planet.

But pre-sapients? I think I've encountered 3 across the entirety of the 8 games I've played.

One time I started next to a dead planet with radio active cockroaches and got the uplift tech rather early. Game was not much fun because to easy with a race for every planet.[/QUOTE]

Pre-Sentient are spawned via a anomaly you get after surveying the planet. You need to actually finish the survey and the anomaly before they spawn. The anomaly text usually says something aroudn "something movign with purpose"

Stone Agers are pre-determined. Unlike other pre-FTL, they are realised as a buff on the Planet.
No pops are spawned or even rolled out until you actually enslave them during colonisation or get the quest where some leave the preservations.
