I'm getting somewhere...
Just wanted to say thanks for all the advice in previous threads. Got a game that so far is ticking along nicely and doesn't have the AI just making things overly annoying.
Most of my games have collapsed by 1520 with me getting into an awkward spot and just giving up. Excommunication, high rebellion counts, wars going tits up, poor money control, or a mixture all causing me to get that annoyed I'd start again.
So far this latest game seems to have finally cracked the nut and actually had a bit of luck to come out of things in what I THINK is a strong position.
The year is 1533, I'm at stability 3, 1600 ducats in the bank, 19.2 BB, +97 prestige, 85 legit, ranked number 1.
PU's with Castille who have major amounts of territory, and Naples who have about half of Italy.
Allies are The above two ( obviously ), three vassals ( Foix and two indian countries), Papal State and I think one of the french countries. (the two countries I formed in india both kicked the alliances)
I did my, now usual, tactic of getting GWTNW as early as possible (first idea), then invading one of the American tribes. The idea being to get a jump on the opposition by having cores popping up over there by the 1480-90's...
Territory wise this is where I'm at :-
Europe, Burgundy is PU'd with Sweden and seems to be sitting there doing nothing much.
USA - am I right in thinking I can colonise at my own pace now as it's unlikely people will colonise from the west?
India - went after india for ultimately the trade benefits and in response to a mission. I went for Ceylon first with an attack straight from the Atlantic Islands ( don't have ANY african mainland continents). Had some trouble because the country in the middle got defeated in a war but it never peaced.. so ended up vassalising the attackers in a seperate war and thus freeing up the country for invasion later. India is a bit messy though, got a few allies because I like breaking up countries by forcing them to release nations. I did this with france too hence how I've ended up with France being so small.
So that's where I am, but given it's going pretty well need to formulate a plan as to where to go now. Never got this far properly before so would really appreciate some advice.
I'm thinking ultimately ( say by 1600) I'd like to have integrated both my PU's (if at all possible), changed religion ( got myself stuck a bit there, I'm defender of the faith at the moment), expanded my US holdings (filling in the holes first) and conquered India.
But really don't know if thats a good plan, or if I'm in danger of my pack of cards collapsing around my ears!!!
thoughts?
