I've been a long time player of HOI2, Darkest Hour, AoD and finally purchased HOI3 along with the expansion games: Semper Fi, For the Motherland, Their Finest Hour from Steam this weekend. So the question is, which expansion should I start with? I honestly have no idea in differences in each one, just looking for some advice before I start getting into one to find out another expansion is more refined, better, etc. Thoughts?

They are upgrades over each other, so play latest one, "their finest hour", it has all included.

It`s not like AOD/DH/IC for HOI2.

Thats the melody....

TFH is the "sum" of all the other expansions in terms of development, and has more "bells and whistles", but I enjoyed Semper Fi more. A few key elements of diplomacy were lost along the way, such as the effects of Cores, part of what Threat did, and how Neutrality was handled. As an example, now you use spies to raise the Threat of France so you can attack Communist China, instead of using spies to raise the threat of Communist China, which was relatively easy if you had historical claims there (Cores), and more difficult otherwise. The game was a bit more "sandbox" then, rather than being heavily scripted to follow the historical course no matter how stupid that may be under the in-game conditions. On the other hand, giving up all those "bells and whistles" is difficult after you've started to take them for granted.

I'd say, follow the general consensus and play FTH, just be aware that it's both an upgrade and a downgrade to the game.

Awesome, thanks for the info. Any good sites or docs out there that go over some of the most important changes/differences between HOI2 games? Been reading through the forums a little and the manual, but thinking maybe somebody has outlined the major changes....

All DLC in HOI III add to gameplay and mechanics they are not like separate games or content more like upgrades to mechanics of the game. They add historical events and that but they all sum eatch other rather than provide separate games.
