When the development cycle ends in about a year or so, and the Devs are not going to sell any more DLC, they should use that opportunity to streamline and integrate mechanics and ideas from previous DLCs.

All the things they don't want to touch because they are 'free features' could be integrated and fixed in the final free patch and DLC.

Just a thought.

When a product's development cycle ends, there is no more paid development on that product. They'll be working on other products and they'd have to do what you're suggesting on their own time. In other words, it's not going to happen if it hasn't happened by the time development ceases.

I think you have misunderstood what I am suggesting.

I am talking about rolling this into the last major patch with the last major DLC.

I don't think CK2's dev cycle will end any time remotely soon. Think about it. The game is shiny and pretty enough, which is basically the only problem with Vic2. Also they've already pushed out a bunch of DLC. In a hypothetical CK3 they'd have to either A) Integrate all the DLC stuff into base game or B) make the same DLCs for CK3, which would result in massive outrage (and rightfully so)

EDIT: Closing statement is I think they'll be pushing out DLCs for a really long time to come

Actually it wouldn't cause an outcry because they mos tlikely would integrate most of it except for things that might need massive revision and thus come back later if they arn't sure how to integrate them during normal development and have other issues to deal with.

EUIV integrated and improved upon most of the expansions for EU3 for example.

Most developers tend to abandon the final product. I have a sinking feeling that the accumulated problems in CK2, ignored and added to for countless DLC, will just be left as-is at the end of the day. We'll have to rely on modders to fix these problems.

If that does happen that hopefully they relase all the hard codding and stuff that can't currently be modded so that the modders can have a crack at things if you catch my drift.

That's not exactly true -

Usually a certain amount of the budget is "ring fenced" for patching after a game is release and likewise DLC also have a certain amount of "ring fencing". Usually, if there's a problem it's caused by bugs introduced by a DLC after the end of the original patch cycle.

In the case of CKII DLC have been somewhat accelerated and released before bugs were ironed out, this IS a worry because it means that bugs are currently being created faster than they're being patched.

I don't get what you mean here. Imho V2 is still the most beautiful game Paradox has made so far. I can't think of anything that would have to be improved graphically and while I wouldn't call CK2 dated or anything, much of it's UI and style could be considered hideous.

your srsly comparing this:

It's hardly a fair comparison in this case when you use a very low-quality picture for V2 while you provide a much better picture for CK2. Paradox post-CK2 games may perhaps be shinier, but V2's map design is a lot more thematic, and feels like it's possible that it could be a authentic map from the time period which definitely improves the immersion while studying it.
