I dunno, you guys are all complaining about the "Empire Under The Sun" part, the part I dont like is the Victoria part. It sounds like a fashion or barbie game or something.

And Victoria is:

A) Too Brit-Oriented

B) Out-Moded. You won't get new blood with that name, only historians, historical wargames, and the lucky few. After all, I'm both of the first two and it took me 2 _years_ to decide to buy EU1. (And 5 seconds to buy EU2 )

C) Non-descriptive. Adding the "An Empire Under The Sun" bit only adds to the clumsy verbage.

Sorry guys, but this has been bugging me since the release.

Surely too late to change the cover art, sadly.

Oh well.

I actually don't care how it's called as long it's good...

I would however prefer a Latin title for some odd reason, but as I said I don't really care...

Victoria is not too 'Brit-Oriented' because most of the game takes place in the Victorian Era. Personally I never understood why people think so highly of her, she didn't do a whole lot out side a ceremony, but I suppose it's the image that counts. Simply put if the people are to dumb realize that "Victoria - Empire Under The Sun" refers to one of the most famous monarchs of all times and the Empire built under her 'reign' then they probably would not like the game. Come on, I knew the phrase "the sun never sets on the British Empire" and who Queen Victoria was when I was seven, and I am from the United States.

Just slap a picture/painting from the ACW on the cover on the NA edition. A bit misleading perhaps but hopefully that'd get the browsing customers attention...

Sadly, I'd be willing to bet that the majority of Americans have no clue who Queen Victoria was... and those who actually do know probably could only come up with "I think she was queen of England or something way back when".

However, if naming the game after a major ruler of the period, "Victoria" is a better name than "Franz Josef", for example. I like the name. The "Empire under the Sun" part can be ignored.

Edit: Of course, I may be biased... my daughter's middle name is Victoria. (named after a queen of England or something who ruled way back when)

I doubt the casual observer will think the game will be along the line of "Pretty Princess" if the cover art shows a British trooper being impaled by a Zulu spear or something similar...

How about a British trooper being impaled with a spear by Stephanie Seymour?
