Final game title?

"Victoria- An Empire under the Sun" is an clumsy, strange title. I wonder, is this title a translation from another language? This would indicate why it doesnt exactly role off the tongue.

Some other suggestions:

Victoria- Age of the New Empires
Victoria- The Rise of Empire
Victoria- Global Imperialism

With all do respect I must say that I prefer Paradox´s name choice over yours...any day.

With all due respect... are you a native speaker of English? I would be surprized if you say yes and continue to suggest the Paradox title is attractive. Furthermore, mine might not be that good, but they are better than that title, I assure you.

I believe its not An Empire Under the Sun, but merely Empire Under the Sun, which works just fine for me as a subtitle. I certainly am a native speaker of English.

"Empire under the Sun" is somewhat less problematic than "An Empire under the Sun."

I think it sounds great, I don't understand what your problem with it is. The An has to be their in front of Empire to make the transition from Victoria smooth on the ear.

No, it doesnt. "Empire under the sun" = Empires in general and in plural ... "An Empire..." = one empire ...thus two very different titles.

Small words can be so meaningful... but you are right. The 'An' would not be pretty, and it would mean the game is only about UK. Which it is not.

Probably too late to suggest this, but what about if you called the game simply 'Empire' With the cover somethig like 'Progress. Enlightenment. Dominion.' under a monolithic title over a 'period-ish' map of the world? A title more likely to make the Best Buy Browser stop and pick up the game to read the back of the box, IMHO. The name Victoria isn't great, as it's british-centric, as is the subtitle, while the game is Global in scope.

I'm pretty sure Empire is taken already.. you know, that classic wargame-nationbuilding-sorta game back in the 80's.. very popular multiplayer game IIRC.. still played today but called Empire Deluxe I think

'An Empire Under the Sun' makes me think of sunglasses, sandy beaches, and coconut drinks with umbrellas in them. Not Europeans running-a-muck around the world.

Oh man, looking back, it's a miracle I bought Europa Universalis at all. I mean, looking at it from an American perspective, its marketing is so poor.

Oh well. I'm a nerd who doesn't look at the front of the box. Just the back, the specs, and maybe one of those flap covers.
