Hi all
So I have been doing my own thing in my recent game of HoI2 as Italy, where I have been nationbuilding, I invaded Spain during the civil war and ended up releasing Euskadi as a puppet with me only keeping the mediterranean parts of Iberia(plus Madrid) I have subjugated Yugoslavia, Greece and Bulgaria, only to release them as Slovakia, Serbia Greece and Bulgaria again as puppets.
Vichy France never joined the axis and I wanted to connect my Iberia with the homelands and conquored south of France and Syria, Lebanon, only to release the middle east as puppets.
Now I finally felt confident in joining germany in her war against the Brits and French, with Lebanon and Syria under my control I was able to drive the english out of both Iraq and Sinai quickly and got to close Suez fast, Gibraltar was also taken at once since I had a direct route in Spain. Fighting the english in Egypt took some time, since I had to fight of a huge army in alexandria, but when that crumbled I kept going south into Sudan and Ethiopea.
So finally the americans joins the war and my entire army is bogged down in eastern africa running on oil fumes and taking months to travels anywhere, but I figure it will take some time before they arrive(oh and by joining the Axis I had to give back my French territories to Vichy and later got all their North African holdings, despite them being neutral, which meant the americans got Cassablanca)
I am now fighing to regain North Africa since America took everything so fast but I feel this game is lost. I dont really want to go through the long campaign in Egypt/Sudan again and they seem to just keep pouring in. My tank divisions are strong and mighty, and the Med is still my pond, but I feel it is only a matter of time before the american industry overwhelms me.
So what are your strategies to fight back the american landings in North Africa?(me getting Algier/Tunis caught me completely off-guard, since I actually had counted on neutral Vichy to be my African border against any landings in Marocco) I think I might just reload from before I joined the Axis to be better prepared for the Vichy France events. But it does seem a bit gamey
Sorry if this got a bit long, but I wanted to give some background details
Oh and BTW I am playing without any expansions
