Fighters seem to earn very few xp and loose the earned xp through losses. The result is that fighter veterancy stagnates.
Is it dependent on the number of planes engaging the battle? This was not the case before BBA.

Yes, this is a relatively recent change. If the enemy numbers and your detection do not allow all your planes to fight, their XP gain get proportionately reduced. In your scenario where you barely detect two enemy planes, it will be reduced massively.

Interesting. Then the xp losses for loosing airplanes is propably too high for small skirmishes as it does not scale.
