How does this work exactly as a King (or Duke)? Is there a way to see exactly who is paying me and how much? I noticed that after applying the Low tax and it got accepted, I dont see any change when I hover over my money resource, the monthly income modifier stays the same as when I was a no feudal tax. But I do get an audible money sound every now and then... Im just trying to understand it and if it's beneficial or not.

Thanks!

Low feudal taxes means every noble vassal directly under you has to pay you 10% of his income. If you don't have any noble vassals, you won't earn any extra money.
The vassal list shows you how much each vassal is paying you and even colors those numbers in red where you don't earn what you're owed, because the vassal in question hates you.

Do you actually *have* any feudal vassals? Rulers of castles either in your counties or in their own?

Yes, Im playing as King of Scotland for my second game. Since he starts off with only 1 king and 1 count title, money is very scarce (about 0.7/month) and I have to completely rely on my vassals for wars, no luxury of mercenaries for me. I have 4-5 Counts and 2 dukes (with castle holdings) that are my direct feudal vassals. I changed the law, it got accepted, now Im still at 0.7 per month. But I do seem to be getting more money than before but Im not 100% sure. Like I said i hear a cha-ching money sound about once a month.

You should be able to see how much each direct vassal is paying you by clicking "vassals" on your character screen. You'll also notice that, as Scotland early in the game, your bishops are giving you absolutely nothing because of your laws.

Look at your realm screen for your yearly income. At the low tax rate, you'll average a base income of about 1/year from each direct count vassal. Each duke will give you 10% of his income from his duchy, so 10% of the 0% his counts give him plus his county taxes or about the same 1/yr. So I suspect your realm screen will show something like 6/year income from vassal tax, which should show up as an extra 0.5/month. So I dunno why you're not seeing that change in the monthly income tooltip :\

Hmm, are you sure? Im at work right now and I cannot verify but Im fairly certain that church laws are at normal/normal (tax/levies) + free investiture by default. The only 2 laws I changed are Low crown authority and low feudal tax.

I just remembered 1 more question i wanted to ask since we're on the tax topic. Is the following statement correct?

Any and all bishops/prince-bishops directly under you as vassals, will not pay you any taxes unless you have an antipope *and* they like your AP more than the current pope. But they will still always give you levies.

Thanks Pode, that explains quite a bit! Ill have a look when I get back home. Maybe im not seeing the change because I have to wait a few more months or a year ingame time to let the balance settle and display correcly.

Shameless bump and self-quote. I would really like to know the answer to this.
