Economy imbalance:
Most things cost nearly as much alloy, as minerals before, while we have about ¼ of the income, and still require extra buildings for it.
Use galactic market, if every empire could have a positive and balanced economy in all resources the entire idea of a galactic market would become pointless.
For example, if you are a agressive empire that need a huge fleet you will need buy alloys in market, if you could spam all alloys that you need the idea of galactic market become useless.

@Ramiren : Sorry for not quoting all the stuff. I so get that. Clearly people need to check several resources and the lack of a proper tutorial doesn't help.
Alas, complexity is fine. Complicated is not (and tedious is there too).
As an example for people who know HoI4: The mechanics are easy but behind that it's rather complex. Now the BICE mod. It's a bunch of work and that I appteciate. On the other Hand, it just adds tediousness and complicated stuff to the game. And that's bad design for me (there are people who like it alot though).

It's just that I don't get. Finally we get meaningful choices and complexity (intead of complicated tediousness) and people don't like that in a fricking strategy game :)
Yes, gameplay changed. Yes, you need to learn the game again. Yes, there are quirks and some bugs. I do get all that. But then again, it's the same with the new "province" system. You get better and realize it's actually superior. Or you don't and revert to whatever version you liked.

I think a lot of the micro arguments surrounding planets aren't specifically around construction but the entire system as a whole. Previously, gaining information about which building did what was as simple as clicking on a tile, now you have to look at which buildings have employees, what those employees consume and produce then account for other factors and modifiers. Gaining the information to make informed decisions about your next course of action is just as important as making that course of action, and while you spend far less time upgrading stuff, you spend far more time trying to hunt for information.
I believe the beta patch addresses this somewhat by showing the output of buildings, and I'll be first in line for "the planet UI sucks".

But, don't mistake micromanagement and regular management. You do have to manage your worlds, and as more people play longer and bigger we are definitely seeing end game considerations that suggest a lack of wide-scale tools. But micro is the obsessive need to handle things like individual pop assignments and continuously tweak resource output. I don't think the latter is needed by and large, but many people claim it's absolutely mandatory and inescapable.

I agree with your comments otherwise.

Agreed, but one comment on your distinction between management and micromanagement is that it backs up what I said previously about this update pushing out the players that preferred a less complex game. Those players are more likely to be newer to the genre and therefore less likely to understand what is and isn't micromanagement. I mean the complaints may well confuse micromanagement and regular management because the people complaining aren't well versed in strategy games.

Even if the new system is different, I think it's best for long term. I never focused much on the economic part of Stellaris because as long as you had tons of minerals and energy, you could spam rignworld Dyson sphere and huge fleets with not much effort. After 2.2 was released, my usual strategy was proven to be incompatible and had my ass kicked. Right now, I'm doing better and I don't want to go back to the previous system.

Galactic market doesnt change the balance. Hopefully the next patch will.

Just remember the old prices in mineral, and the new ones in alloy. Some stayed the same, some was changed a bit, and others are 1/4 in price.
Currently a simple platform cost more than the base station, since the devs forgot to change those numbers.
The gun modul now cost 50 alloy, which is 1/4 of the old price, so all good there. There are more like this.

I'm sure these will be fixed soon, but still, these are part of the current game, so i had to mention it in the post.

yup, the game is painfully slow now.. combine it with performance issues and you have a vastly slowed down gaming experiencing.. at some point in the game you have literally nothing to do but to watch your pop grow

in multiplay the problem becomes worse
