I will start with a bit of context.
After many years struggling with the diplomacy i manage to form a nice federation. 3 big empires (including myself) and 2 smaller ones.
I started as president and dessigned a powerfull fleet. Varios battleships models, escort cruisers and corvetes. 10 battleships in total, and cruisers and corvettes up to 18k power (relative small, considering that it was 130 or 140 years into the game). And i spend a lot of minerals and time in my period as president building that fleet.
Then the presidency passed to another of the big empires, and aside from splitting the fleet in 2 (that immediately destroyed my plans, since the idea was to keep the federation fleet bigger than my owns individual fleets so the AI was able to fight wars on their own following the common fleet... well you understand). Aside from that, not a big problem.
But the next president was one of the "small" empires.
After one month in command of the fleet, they just disbanded it. No warning, nothing, just gone. Almost 5 years of work from my empire gone.
Now, to the purpose of this thread.
I assume that the AI Empire was unable to sustain the fleet upkeep and decided to dismantle it, afther just one month. But he did not tried to trade for energy/minerals with the others to pay for the fleet or noting similar.
So, Will this always happen when AI take command of the federation fleets?
Someone had this same problem?
Do you think that federations realy need some kind of "tribute system", like a montly discount (10-20%) of minerals/energy to pay for the federation fleet (as long as there is one present and the president can't pay for the fleet alone?
Could an "optional" vote system in singleplayer for federations be of help?
Is this just a feature that was only planned for multiplayer? (since the AI aparently can't handle it completely, at least the common fleet part).
As always, any constructive answer is appreciated
