My Federation Fleet keeps going off and supporting my idiotic AI Federation partners when it's nominally under my "control". I tell it to follow my normal fleet, and it goes to my fleet, and then runs off to go fight the 25k+ Sanctuary System defenses because my dumbass Federation Partner decided to run in and attack with only a 7k fleet.

Can Paradox PLEASE make it so the Federation Fleet is actually ONLY under control of the President? What the idiotic AI does with its time as president is fine. Just don't retake control when I'm supposed to have it.

I've had a similar issue where my Fed fleet kept on wanting to go back to a partner's base. I had to have it go round and round a system to keep it in the system I wanted it.

Yeah, this bug has been around since the start of federation fleets. Here's a thread about it in the bug reports forum section:

My workaround is to save & quit to desktop when you get control of the federation fleet. After reloading the game, the federation fleet obeys your commands as it should, and doesn't wander off. So clearly it is a bug. I'm pretty sure it's known and will get fixed eventually, but I guess it's not been very high on the priority list.

It's a pretty shoddy bug to not only allow but to subsequently leave in for so long. This happens every time you are in a federation so it's not like it's hard to miss or reproduce.

I think you can solve this by creating a new fleet when you get control. From the federation fleet, create a new fleet and transfer all the ships to it. This should allow you to control the fleet...

I guess it might not always work though.

Changing the name of the fleet sometimes works until you get control of it again, assuming it survives, at which point you have to change the name again. Same goes for creating a new fleet and transferring all ships into it.

It is a major annoyance, but my workaround is to select the federation fleet and make a new fleet from it, placing every ship in the new fleet except for one corvette. That corvette remains in control of the AI while you get control of the federation fleet back.

Thanks for the new workaround, I hadn't relized you don't have to exit the game to get around the bug. I do hope it gets fixed though cause it's kind of annoying to pay attention to this problem.

It would also be nice to get a notification whenever a new presidential term begins. At least, when you are the last or the next president.

Fix with:
New Fleet -> Transfer all
