I think in that specific situation the bug is very severe. They would have never inherited the title anymore, since it changed dynasty through the bug.
Just hoping that the bug will be resolved soon after release (it's not that difficult to fix), since if playing as leon, the bug is relatively likely to occur...
One of the journalists wrote something like that he didn't always understand the ways of succession and blamed it on himself, but maybe he had a similar bug.

Yeah they haven't told us when the first post release patch will be, but I'm hoping it is less than a month.

Tbf we're talking about medieval aristocrats who are thirsty for power and land, and you do suffer a malus if you are a known murderer.
Also keep in mind that in many societies, the murder of a kid isn't necessarily considered as a worse action than killing a ruler.

Eh, you're putting way too much credence into the idea that medieval aristrocrats behave like characters from Game of Thrones. Assassinations were, during much of this time period, fairly uncommon, and killing children even more uncommon.

I'm not sure about the some events that break immersion... Did kings in the XIth century go to the local pubs and quietly flirt with the waiter? Also, why would he sleep in the inn?
Something like this event already exists in CK2; I remember getting it. I think it was a crusade event that let you get a local bartender as a lover, but weirdly other than that one time I've never gotten events while on crusade, participation trophy notwithstanding.

Here I just assumed the king was travelling somewhere, hence the inn. The event appears to be part of the Intrigue lifestyle.

Yeah they haven't told us when the first post release patch will be, but I'm hoping it is less than a month.

I wouldn't be too surprised for a day 1 patch to fix it and any other "minor" (aka easy to fix) bugs they find between now and then. They probably don't want to change their initial release package before release at this point, but could have the patch ready to go on release. But even if it take a few weeks (which it probably won't), I think we can manage. :)

Btw, is anyone else uncomfortable with the in-your-face-y nature of the list of things to do?

In CK2, they were neatly arranged at the top of the screen, but in CK3 they are centered and stick quite far downwards toward the center of the screen, where they were kind of in the way. I'm fine with rearranging the items in a vertical list rather than horizontally like in CK2, but it would be less obtrusive if it was in, for example, the top left corner.

As far as the notification at the top of the screen, I've commented on this as well. I personally don't think I'll be a fan of it. I think things will end up being forgotten in their or missed for a period of time as I'll most likely leave it minimized except on the (likely) rare occasions I think to check it. It is true that other notifications are on the side and those aren't bad because they are easy to see, but they take up way too much room. In general, the UI uses too much space, imo. Hopefully there is a UI scaling option. Just looking at how if you can fill the entire screen by just opening 3 "windows" bothers me. In CK2, the windows were much smaller and actually showed more (or at the very least, as much) than these larger ones. I like the new style, but I think the size is just too large.

Also not big fan of how diplomacy/character interaction menu looks (color scheme) and works. Why collapse options? Scrollbar worked fine in CK2.

Yeah, I don't really understand the reason for collapsed options either. I'd much prefer the ability to see everything without clicking to expand various options. I don't mind a scrollbar if needed. Especially in the beginning, I'll have to click every one of these over and over again just to see if there is a new option that appears in a certain situation. Just like some options in CK2 only show if conditions are met, I'm assuming the same is true here. As in CK2, some show all the time and are just grayed out, but I'm sure some will appear only at certain times and until I know what those are and when they appear, I'll have to keep wasting time checking all collapsed menus. Not something I look forward to.

Does anyone know if there's going to be cultural titles on release like Kaiser for the HRE? I remember someone asking this question awhile back on discord I believe and the Dev replied yes there would be, but from the playthrough when they clicked on the HRE I didn't see that in game it was just Emperor.

I don't know for sure, but in the livestream we did see the terms Infante and Infanta used for 'Spanish' princes and princesses, so it seems like those cultural titles are used.

Thanks for the reply, and oh I’ll have to go back and look I didn’t even notice the Infanta/Infante titles that’s fantastic. Hopefully everywhere gets those culture related titles.

Fairly certain this came up before and a dev commented on it being a bug.
Who knows if it'll be fixed for release though.

The scrolling mechanism while looking through the list of characters to grant land seemed a bit off. It's a bit like I want to scroll down, but it looked like the list was scrolling up to go down... Did anyone else feel the same?

I see what you mean - the scrolling goes in steps of slightly more than one row, making it appear as if the list had gone slightly down, instead of rising as you scroll down. Either setting the scrolling to one row per step or smoothing the scrolling should fix that.

Last week's stream didn't show a regent for the child King of Galicia on the character profile screen, so some are concluding that there aren't regents. There hasn't been any official word on it afaik.

Not only that. When their character went on a pilgrimage it the event specifically mentioned that "he cares for how his realm will do during his absence" but there was no mention of a regent and the interface did not display a regent too.
So regents are not in the game (99.9% - and if they are in, they are utterly unimportant).

There's gotta be regents right? I noticed that too in the stream today, but why would there not be?
Apparently the same reason that made them think that one single slider would qualify for a feudal contract in the first iteration also caused them to see regents and a regency mechanic as completely pointless.

I really don't understand how people are upset about of kings, queens and intrigue lacking naval combat when it lacks regencies.

Just imagine GOT where King Tommen is in power and all the other powerful characters in the court just listen to him. And Cersei leaves the court as a wanderer, just as the mother in the first live stream did.

Definitely think there should be powerful regents. The argument that 'having a regent is bad, because it stops you doing things which is boring' never made sense to me - CK is primarily about roleplaying, and your 3 year old ruler acting like a master strategist is very unimmersive! And for those who are looking for more of a strategic challenge, I think regents are a good potential source of lategame challenge.

The optimist in me thinks the absence of regents so far implies that they're being saved for a later expansion (or free feature pack). To do justice to the concept, you'd have to put a lot of work in to building and balancing it and making it engaging. And I can see why (like trade) you might do this after version 1.0 - you want to make your core systems all work first.

It became pretty clear that a promise feature would be great. First of all, when they wanted their special characters in their court, they could have promised them to give them a county if they come. Also they said something like: "Can we invite they guy we want to be an agent an give him land?" Here a promise system would also allow them to do things like that. On this note, giving their family land should also increase their opinion of you (give land to his son -> he likes you -> he joins your plot -> profit)
I made a mod which implements that in CK2. I completely believe that such a feature is necessary as it adds so much immersion to the game and actually makes sense. I hope Paradox makes it a vanilla feature. I'm quite excited for the expanded and more flexible moddability in CK3, so I will try to port as many of my mods to CK3 as would make sense in the new game.
