No it's not. His brother married a woman and have a son, then died, this woman remarried and have another son. Somehow when the older son (which is the heir of his brother, in same dynasty) died the younger (not related to him, different dynasty) inherited the tittle. This should be a bug.
Okay, this is getting confusing, but what I understood was that Sancho's wife had a perfectly legitimate baby with him, who was born after the player character assassinated Sancho and therefore after Alfonso had already inherited Castille.

Yeah but since he has no actual heir the next in line will be that baby.

What was said about the HRE? Was there a rebellion or was there a decentralisation mechanic?
Looks like bad vassal contracts as they said. It may be intentional.

Combat looks to be really streamlined. Not sure how I feel about that. Early game looks like whoever has the most knights wins, there's no flanks and so probably no tactics. I don't remember reading the dev diary on combat so I'll have to revisit that.

They just got rid of the fake depth. CK2 combat is highly complex, but gives the player limited tools to actually influence it, in particularly ones that don't amount to tedious micromanagement (scanning the world for commanders with the perfect leadership traits, re-oranizing flanks each time new units are added, keeping retinues separate from levies). CK3 does simplify the main battles, but retinues are now fully integrated into the system in the form of men-at-arms and there is a bigger (or at least much clearer) focus on terrain and countering enemy men-at-arms with your own. Both of those are a thing in CK2 as well, but you need to read the wiki in order to learn that's a thing and then study the wiki in order to figure out how to make use of it.

As funny as it is, I'm guessing that was an event that fired b/c she was his spymaster, with the game not taking any other relationships into account.

I don't think that's the case. I think the event fired because she was his courtier, with the game not taking any other relationships into account. ;)

The galicia succession seems to be bit weird. If I understand correctly the law was agnatic-cognatic partition (gavelkind).

King Garcia's heir was his nephew, the son of his eldest dead brother, named Sancho i think -> That is OK
Sancho's heir was at first his mother, who remarried and had another son who became the new heir (since agnatic congnatic) -> This seems to be wrong since the heir should have been his uncle Alfonso (aka the player), not his mother, who should have never been heir.

I think your analysis is correct and it's definitely not right. I wonder if this indicates that there is no title history? Have they shown us a title history in the stream? I watched only part of it so far.

I do wonder, was the incestous relationship an event, historical or a setup from Paradox to make for such a fun stream?
It seems like it is set-up in the history files like that.

Maybe the game generates some random lovers and friends at game setup? It certainly wasn't the result of anything the streamers did and they looked genuinely surprised, so I don't think it was put in on purpose.

  • Why are the members of the HRE leaving when they have such low level contracts? Shouldn't they be fine with being a vassal since they pay almost nothing? They should rebel if their concracts are bad, not if they are good!
I expect they still prefer no vassal contract at all over a good vassal contract. And the kaiser was to weak to stop them.

What was said about the HRE? Was there a rebellion or was there a decentralisation mechanic?

Independence faction seems to have won a war. Kaiser starts out very weak because all his vassal contracts heavily favor the vassals.

Urraca was rumored to have had an affair with Alfonso in real life, and it happened so early in the stream it seems unlikely that it just happened naturally, so it's probably a coded relationship from the very start.

It was a liberty/independence faction which doesn't make a whole lot of sense.

Someone mentioned in the chat that there are allegations of incest in some historical documents. I found that here: https://www.semanticscholar.org/pap...ella/ffcab84e4e3b2f9309e2d4cd9095579a7341f4e4
So some dev must have read about it and thought it would be fun to include it in the history files.

It implies that in the film El Cid, though obviously doesn't go any further due to when the film was made.

So, since they now hold all three of Galicia, Leon, and Castille, does this mean they will take the "unite Spain" decision?

One thing I noticed that I'm not sure I care for is the combining of notifications into one icon at the top of the screen. In one way, it's great so you don't have 15 icons running across the top of the screen. But in another way, it means that when I have 10 that I don't want to do anything about, but also don't want to hide, I can't quickly and easily notice when there's something that I really want to deal with. I can see myself forgetting to click on (or mouseover) the icon to see what's there and miss something important or at least not address it as quickly as I'd like. Maybe it's optional to expand it?

I also didn't see a minimap. Hopefully it was just hidden. It's helpful to be able to quickly move around the map without having to zoom out and in to do so.

Otherwise, it looks great. I like the humor added to the events. It does look like how things were moved around and changed means I will end up spending a lot of time looking everything over when I first play the game instead of just jumping in feet first.

Opposite opinion: I have never used the minimap at all. Sure it's useful the one time you do it, but the screen estate is too precious. But maybe toggle is fine for people who actually uses it.

For the HRE, they said specifically that it happens like 1 in 5 games where the vassals declare independence. They also said the empire often votes people back in as Kaiser plus some reconquests. So regardless, the empire should centralize over time if things go well due to the reconquest resetting the vassal contracts.

As for the child, I’m guessing those short reign penalties are drawing the agents into the plot.

I am the only one wondering about the lack of regents or any regency mechanic?
May be missing from this build and will be added later.
Or is it because the mother was alive ?

No wonder the kids didn't stood a chance.

That's indeed concerning. If the game had a proper regency system it would certainly display the regent here, so either the regent is much less important than in CK2 (instead of more important) or not even existing at all... Quite sad.
